Obituary For Reverend Richard Jones
Reverend Richard Jones passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 6, 2026, in Durham, North Carolina. He was born July 23, 1935, in Canton, Mississippi.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, minister, and community leader. For 65 years, he shared his life with his beloved wife, Eleanor Blackmon Jones, and built a family grounded in love, faith, strength, and devotion.
Rev. Jones is survived by his wife, Eleanor; four children, Harriet Jones, Richard Alpha Jones (Beth), Karen Jones, and Lela Jones; three grandchildren, Jasmine Van Hagen (Marcus), Jordan Jones, and Justine Jones (Charles); and three great-grandchildren, Laila, Lillian, and Beatrice.

Although his family mourns his loss, we are deeply grateful for his full and generous life. We find comfort knowing his legacy endures through his example and the generations who will carry on his gifts. His was a life of uncommon depth and meaning, lived with purpose and marked by an extraordinary influence on all who knew and loved him.
