I met Mrs. Ruth Poole in the 1960's. I was teaching a class in literacy at McDougald Terrace, This class began at 6:00 AM and she was always there. Her greatest desire was to learn to read her Bible. She was a devoted student and a very special lady. Over the years I continued to run into her at various church and civic functions. She never failed to thank me for being of assistance to her. Her smile was contagious and her reverence sincere. Please accept my heart felt condolences on her passing. She will always be in my memory. Barbara Best Nichols
Mother Poole was such a sweet lady that you would see all over Durham Witnessing and smiling. She will be missed. Lynette Evans
Thank GOD for allowing us to witness the true meaning of spiritual service and fortitude. Sister Ruth Poole made indelible marks of what a Servant of GOD looks like. She was relentless and profound as a minister of the GOSPEL.
I will forever cherish the love and support I received from Mother Ruth. When I first arrived in Durham from Sampson County back in the '60s, she became like a second mother to me, filling my life with warmth and guidance. Her passion for evangelism was truly inspiring, and together, we traveled across Durham, sharing our faith through missionary work. I am deeply grateful that Robert and I had the opportunity to visit her just a few weeks ago. Her radiant smile as Robert sang was a beautiful reminder of the joy she brought to everyone around her.
Indeed, we miss her dearly but are so thankful the Lord allowed our paths to cross. Robert, Stephanie, and her beloved granddaughter—please know how much she loved each of you. Our prayers are with you for strength and peace during this difficult time. Peggy and Robert McCauley
Such a loving, caring soul. I will miss you sitting in the back of the church, but praising God.

Good morning! May Mother Ruth S. Poole rest in the arms of Jesus Christ. She was a faithful Christian steward at Fisher Memorial United Holy Church, Durham, North Carolina under the pastoral leadership of the late Bishop Andrew William Lawson, Sr. She believed in doing Christian Missions and trying to win souls into God's vineyard. Sincerely, Dr. Allan G. Smith, Sr, Pastor of First Baptist Church, 220 Ferry Street, South Boston, Virginia.
God blessed Mother Ruth Poole with a heart of gold, a loving and kind spirit, faith and determination, a commitment to His Word, His Church, and His people, and a Holy Ghost-filled life. Having known Mother Poole since a child, she has been the same Woman of Strength and Power thru many of life's changing situations; she did not change, waver, faint, nor forget where her help came from... She knew that it came from the Lord, her Savior, her Redeemer, The Christ, God almighty!! You couldn't make her doubt Him because she knew too much about Him! Thank you, Lord, for the life and example of Mother Ruth S. Poole. She fought a good race and finished her assignment. She gets her reward and her 'Well done.' Will miss her dearly! Love, prayers, and sympathy to Chick, Stephanie, and Family! Willie & Beverly Rogers & Family
