Funeral service for Gerald M. Thomas 78, will be Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at 2 PM at the Friendship Baptist Church with Pastor Carlton Phillips, officiating, Rev. Carl Dotson, Jr., eulogist. Interment with military honors will follow in Anniston Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Thomas passed away on October 19, 2026 at Jacksonville Health and Rehab. Mr. Thomas was a devoted member of Friendship Baptist Church. He dedicated more than 21 years of honorable service to the United States Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. Mr. Thomas' greatest joy was his family. He cherished spending time with his loved ones, hunting, and honoring his Cherokee heritage.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years: Patricia Thomas; daughter: Valencia Mayo (Derrick) O'Neal; brother: Charles (Lorie) Thomas; his grandchildren: Arinthia Morris; Derrick (Evelyn) O'Neal Jr., Devin (Taylor) O*Neal and Morgan O'Neal, Autumn Thomas, Isaiah Jones, Keshawn Thomas, and Kmarion Thomas and 5 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lorene Thomas, his siblings, Dewayne Thomas, Willie James Thomas, Sharron Garrett and Carolyn Kennedy, his sons, Gerald Thomas Jr. and Hollis Thomas.
