Jerome Darryl McQueen II
Funeral service for Jerome Darryl McQueen, II, 53 will be on Friday, May 8, 2026 at 1 pm at the Shady Grove Baptist Church, Interment will follow in Maple Grove. Mr. McQueen passed away on April 29, 2026 at UAB Hospital, Birmingham. Mr. McQueen's remains will arrive at the church one hour prior to his service.
The family has requested No Public Viewing. A devoted husband, father, brother, son, friend, scholar, and man of faith, Jerome built a life centered on family, love, and service.
He was a graduate of Dillon High School and earned degrees in engineering and business from South Carolina State University, Florida A&M University, and the University of Phoenix. He served as Engineering Manager and Program Director at McWane Inc. Jerome was the founder of AcaSTEMics, a movement to educate youth in STEM related fields. Jerome was also an active member of the Dillon County Bridge Builders and the 100 Black Men of America (South Atlanta Metro Chapter) where he mentored over 200 young men, helping them earn millions in scholarships. He was also an avid fan of the North Carolina Tar Heels and the South Carolina State University.
Survivors include his wife: Willie Jean McQueen; children: Kevin (Iesha) Beard, Ta'Shara (Sherman) Lee, Davieuntae (Tiandra) Booker, and TaKierra Hudson; grandchildren: TyShaun Davis, Kaden Atkins, Charlotte Lee, and Tyree Booker; her brother: Robert Jones; her sisters: Kadra (Adrain) Wright, Kendra (Donald) Fling; brothers in-law: Darron (Tracey) Williams, Johnny Williams, Kevin (Temecha) Williams, Clifford (Erica) Williams and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome McQueen and Willie Dell Crosby McQueen; paternal grandmother, Mary McQueen Bethea; paternal great-grandparents, William McQueen and Minnie Miles McQueen; maternal grandparents, Francis Carroll Jones and Erma Tisdale Jones, and Virgie Crosby.
