Funeral service for Nell Lena Walton 87, will be Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Noon at the New Hope Baptist Church, Barfield with Pastor David Staples, officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Church Cemetery. Mrs. Walton passed away on January 19, 2026. Mrs. Walton's remains will arrive at the church two hours prior to her service.

Mrs. Walton was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and served faithfully on the church's Usher Board. When she was unable to make the trip to Barfield, she continued her mission of service closer to home, working with the Food Ministry at Mt. Liberty Baptist Church just outside of Anniston.

Survivors include her children: Johnnie Lee and Jimmie Ray Walton; her grandchild: Tashiana Breshay Walton; siblings; Ether Smith, Zettie Wood, and Robert Wood, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Argusta Wood, husband, Jimmie Lee Walton, children, Cecil Jeffery and Glory Jean Walton, siblings, Mary Patton, Della Wood, Georgia Walton, Judy Wood, Bettie Hughley, Bobbie Jean Wood, Jasper Wood, Thomas Wood, and Charles Wood.
