AVISENE ALEXIS OBITUARY
Avisene Alexis, age 69, of Harlem, passed away on Wednesday morning, February 19, 2025, at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. He was born on February 15, 1956, in Saint-Louis du Nord, Haiti, to Claircilia and Marmonvil Alexis.
He attended trade school in Haiti. In 1984, he moved to the United States, and his wife, Cleramise, joined him a year later. Together, they built a life in New York City.
Avisene loved meeting new people, taking walks in Harlem, and calling family members to stay connected. He cherished time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He was the fifth of fifteen brothers and sisters and he was an uncle to seven nieces and seven nephews.
A devoted member of Morija SDA Church in Harlem, Avisene was baptized as a Seventh-Day Adventist in 2003.
Avisene is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Cleramise Alexis; his four daughters, Nadia Alexis, Jessica Alexis, Yolanda Castillo, and Esther Sinclair; and his four grandchildren, Wendell Cheeseboro, Brianna Castillo, Elijah Cheeseboro, and Antonio Vanderhorst Jr. He also leaves behind many other family members and friends who will deeply miss him.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. The burial will take place at Kensico Cemetery, located at 273 Lakeview Ave, Valhalla, NY 10595. A repass will follow at Morija SDA Church immediately after the burial.
