Obituary For Barbara Smith

Beloved Barbara Smith was born on November 11, 1955, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to the late Mamie Smith and Kenneth Smith. At a young age, Barbara and her family relocated to Harlem, New York, where she was educated in the New York City public school system.

Barbara devoted many years of service working within the school system and later as a School Crossing Guard, a role in which she took great pride. She was also a dedicated homemaker who created a warm and loving environment for her family.

Barbara leaves to cherish her precious memories: daughter, Marlene Nfonpyim; husband, Allen Monroe, grandchildren: Christopher Nfonoyim, Justin Nfonoyhim and Jordan Nfonoyim, all of Staten Island, NY; two sisters: Anita Smith and Anna Smith of the Bronx, NY.

On Sunday, November 16, at Staten Island University Hospital in Staten Island, NY, the Lord sent one of His angels to call Barbara from labor to rest.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Mamie Smith; father, Kenneth Smith; daughter, Charlene McCline; sister, Priscilla Smith; and brother, Kenneth Smith, Jr. Barbara leaves to cherish her precious memory: her daughter, Marlene Nfonpyim; her husband, Allen Monroe; her beloved grandchildren, Christopher Nfonoyim, Justin Nfonoyhim, and Jordan Nfonoyim, all of Staten Island, NY; and two sisters, Anita Smith and Anna Smith of the Bronx, NY.

Sleep on, Barbara, and take your rest. We love you, but God loved you best.
