Bernard Ogodor was born on December 18, 1942, in Sapele, Nigeria, to Afure Okubor Ogodo and Eromegbe. He attended elementary and secondary school in Sapele, where he developed a strong work ethic and a passion for learning. As a young man, he relocated to Sierra Leone, where he spent two years as a businessman before moving to the United States in 1965.

In pursuit of higher education, Bernard earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Fordham University. He later worked at both a railway station and a vocational school, where his dedication and discipline shone through. Known for his fun-loving spirit, Bernard was tough when needed but always kindhearted and generous—ever willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Bernard’s journey through life was guided by his deep faith, perseverance, and love for family. He believed strongly in education, hard work, and integrity—values he passed on to everyone who knew him. His calm presence and quiet wisdom made him someone people naturally gravitated toward for advice and encouragement.

He was the proud father of two wonderful sons, whom he shared with Christy Williams, a devoted and loving mother. Bernard’s love for his sons was immeasurable—he spoke of them often and with great pride. They were his joy and inspiration, and his heart was fullest when he was surrounded by family. His devotion as a father will forever remain one of the most beautiful parts of his legacy.

Throughout his years in the United States, Bernard built lasting friendships and maintained strong ties to his roots in Nigeria. He took great pride in his heritage and often shared stories of home, culture, and family traditions. Whether through his hospitality or his heartfelt laughter, he had a way of making every space feel warm and welcoming.

Outside of his professional life, Bernard enjoyed simple pleasures—listening to good music, watching sports, and spending time in meaningful conversation. He cherished life’s quiet moments and found peace in reflection and gratitude.

Bernard’s life was a true testament to strength, humility, and compassion. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely. He leaves behind his two beloved sons, Bernard Ogodor and Dennis Ogodor, his devoted nephew Frederick Ogodo, cherished niece Fiona Ogodo, and Miss Juliet, a dear and trusted friend of the family. He will also be remembered by a host of loving relatives and friends whose lives were enriched by his presence.
