Bertha was a fun-loving person who always looked forward to celebrating birthdays, holidays, and family get togethers. One of Bertha’s favorite sayings was, "Que Sera, Sera", because she believed that once you prayed and gave a situation to God; it would be what it would be.
Born in Georgetown, SC, on February 14th, 1955, to the late Thomas Gibbs and Alethia Irons; Bertha was raised by her maternal grandmother, receiving her early education at J.B. Beck School. In 1965 Bertha and Sister, Sandra, came to New York City where they were formally adopted by our Dad, the late Frank Win. Brown Sr. and our Mom Mrs. Alethia I. Brown.
A successful product of the NYC Public School system, Bertha was trained to care for the elderly. Bertha reluctantly retired after 18 years of providing such care.
Bertha is survived by her mother Alethia I. Brown, sisters Geraldine B. Douglas, Sandra L. Brown, Vanessa J. Caughman-Nesmith, brothers Judson H. Brown, Marc E. Brown, Sr.; children Osaro L. Aigbogun, Odaro S. Aigbogun, Chloe J. Lord, and Carolyn S. Lord; Grandchildren, Isaiah 0. Brown, Iyanna I. Brown Aigbogun, Xavier S. Aigbogun, Lianny A. Brown Aigbogun, Christopher H. McClary Jr. and Chase J. McClary; and great-grandson Aden I. Brown. A plethora of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, and friends who also grieved by her passing.
Our staff will continue to keep your family in our prayers. We thank you for allowing us to serve your family.
