Beverly received Christ at an early age under the leadership of her grandmother, Irene Crawford. As a devoted Christian woman, Beverly fought many battles and started every day with the word and walked with the Lord.
Beverly Holman was born to the late James Holman and Mary Holman on July 2nd 1955. Beverly was the second oldest of their 5 children, two who preceded her, Mildred Crawford and Yvonne Holman. She went home to be with the lord on Saturday, March 28, 2026.
Beverly received her elementary and secondary education from the NYC Department of Education school system. She attended Canarsie High School and completed her studies at Job Corps in Dallas Texas. Beverly maintained employment throughout her life until she retired in 2018.
During her career she was known as a dedicated employee and supportive supervisor. She held many positions as a secretary, construction worker, security guard, and supervisor just to name a few. She always brought a big smile and a "we are family" energy to the workplace, cooking many meals for her staff on every occasion. Beverly, who is well-known to her friends and family as "Bev" and "Nana" to her grandchildren who she loved dearly. She ruled with a no-nonsense attitude while providing a safe haven to anyone who needed her love and support.
Beverly is best known for her cooking and being the life of the party. She loved having family gatherings and playing her oldies but goodies. She loved fashion and red and white always was her 1st choice as a stylish dresser with her signature jewelry, burgundy nail polish and lipstick.
Beverly memories will be cherished by her devoted husband of 46 years David Griffin Sr., three devoted children, Keyjuana Covington, Lameek Covington, and David Griffin Jr.; grandchildren, Kayshawn Covington, Brittany Steele, Shadontay Griffin, Ka'Mori Hathaway, Ki'tira Hathway and Layla Walden all of Harlem NY; In-law children Dashima Griffin, Dashima Griffin, Terry Hathaway, Darnell Walden, and Kyra Covington. She is also survived by two sisters: Anne Bruce of Bamberg, SC, and Janet Holman of Bronx, NY. She was the aunt and cousin to many, with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. In the words of Big Bev to family and friends, “Don’t cry, just dance!”
