We gather here today to celebrate the life of an extraordinary woman, Debra Fisher-Perry. Debra, the beloved daughter of Johnnie Moses Fisher Sr. and Eloise Betty Fisher, was born on October 10, 1960. She came into this world as an inspiration, a guiding light, and a beacon of hope. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, wife, aunt, cousin, grandmother, friend, and confidant. Debra was a Christian whose light and presence were felt in every room she entered. She was the foundation of the family and a rock that countless people relied on.
Debra grew up in the Bronx, New York and graduated from William Howard Taft High School. Whether she knew it or not, Debra was a role model. Her words could change the course of a person’s life. Many people knew that having her approval meant you were destined for greatness. Debra was never one to hide her feelings. Whether in moments of joy or frustration, she expressed herself openly, always making sure you knew exactly where you stood. Even after sharing her thoughts, she would offer a comforting gesture, a meal or a cold cup of Pepsi. Her way of letting you know, you will always have a special place in her heart.
Debra was a fashion icon, the epitome of style and grace. Whenever she went outside, she loved to look her best! Her hair was tailored to perfection and her makeup was always flawlessly applied. She knew how to style her fashion for any event she attended, leaving her to receive numerous compliments all night long. Debra never took a bad picture! She lived an amazing life of style.
Debra’s dedication to helping others led her to further her education at Bronx Community College in addition to earning her CASAC from Argus Community. Her passion for greatness drove her to achieve everything she set her mind to. Debra was walking in her calling.
She was brilliant, a good listener, a problem solver, a great storyteller, a family historian, and tremendously funny. Debra had an undeniable strength, the kind often reserved for superheroes, but she carried it with grace and femininity. To know her was to love her.
On September 23, 2010, she married the love of her life, Andrew Perry. Although they did not have children together, they still shared a wonderful union and a bond as a family. Andrew lovingly referred to Debra as his “Tweetie Pie,” who knew him like a book and made him a better version of himself.
Debra’s commitment was also reflected in her Spiritual Walk. Although Debra accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of her life, she later went on to solidify her walk with the Lord by getting baptized in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit on August 3, 2012, at the Upper Room Church in the Bronx, NY.
On May 29, 2025, Debra went to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Tiesha Fisher, her sisters Johnese Louis and Alice Fisher, and her parents. Debra leaves behind friends and family who adored her. Her husband, Andrew Perry; sons Michael “Mike” Fisher, Randall Sean Fisher, and Darnell Evans Sr.; daughters Markieta Kennedy and Destiny Fisher; stepson Isaiah Perry; daughters-in-law Tysheena Fisher and Antoinette Evans; goddaughter Shannell “Nelly” Brunson; godson Mario Cabral; brother Johnnie “Junie” Moses Fisher Jr.; sister Shaun “Boobie” Fisher-Ijeomah; and her fourteen grandchildren: Navaeh, Navon, Julie-Michele, Leium, Nariah, Kyaire, Kyng, Musiq, Pharaoh, Jeremy, Marc, Dream, Darnell Jr., and Joell. In addition to a hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
Though Debra is no longer physically with us, her spirit continues to live on in the laughter, the wisdom, the teachings, and the unwavering strength she shared. Her legacy will continue to guide and inspire future generations to come. Debra was one of a kind. She left a mark on all who knew her legacy of love, resilience, and authenticity. We will carry forward her lessons, her love, and her light. Rest well, Debra. You are deeply missed and forever cherished.
