Deshaunda L. Thomas was born on February 21, 1981, to Swillie Thomas and the late Darlene Crawford (Clarke). She was born in the Bronx, New York, and at a young age moved to Staten Island, New York, where she spent most of her life.
On Thursday, October 16, 2025, our beloved Deshaunda went home to be with the Lord.
Deshaunda was a devoted believer in the Lord and a true lover of His Word. Her unwavering faith inspired everyone who knew her. Guided by God’s hand, she walked in His light each day—until He gently led her home.
She attended Curtis High School and spent many years working at the New York City Building as a Community Assistant for 19½ years. Her dedication, kindness, and the meaningful difference she made in the lives of those around her will always be remembered and cherished. Deshaunda’s departure leaves a void that can never be filled.
Deshaunda leaves to cherish her memory two brothers, Jamel Thomas and Steven Clarke; her loving niece and nephews; her devoted grandmother; and her sister-in-law. She is also remembered fondly by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and co-workers. Her friends will miss her dearly, and her family will miss her even more—but her Heavenly Father is rejoicing to have her home with Him, where there is no more suffering, no more pain, and no more worries. Her mind and spirit can now rest in perfect peace.

Today we laid to rest a beautiful young lady who will be truly missed. Each morning I would greet her with "good morning sunshine" but now my light has dimmed. Dee was part of our DOB team and we have a tear in our heart now. We will continue to miss you but always celebrate you with smiles and laughter. Every joke we hear or tell, will be a dedication to you always. Rest easy now, sleep in eternal peace my friend.
Dee was so very special, her smile and laughs whenever we saw her at the Department of Buildings that my wife and I shared with her, are the memories that we will forever cherish.
Our staff will continue to keep your family in our prayers. We thank you for allowing us to serve your family.
