Glenmore Willesly Obituary Glenmore Willesly Hinds was born to the late Ephraim and Myrtel Hinds on January 5, 1947 in Kingston, Jamaica W.I. He was the Third of Five children. Glenmore departed this life on Monday October 17, 2022. At an early age both of Glenmore (Glen) parents were deceased. His late aunt and uncle, Wilhel and Aubrey Nichols and the late Sema Griffiths assumed all parental responsibilities. Glenmore received his early education at Trench Town Primary School and Excelsior High School. Glen was an active member and altar boy at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church in Harbour View. He used his leader skills to organized church activities. His athletic ability and magnetic personality came in handy when he was organizing community sports events such as Track & Field, Cricket Matches and Soccer Matches. Glenmore became famously known as “Bitter Rice”. In 1966 Glenmore migrated to the United States. He was employed by G.A.L. Elevator Company as a file clerk. He met and married Janice Curtis of Harrisburg. This union produced one son. He was drafted in the U.S. Army on January 12, 1976 and he served Two years of active service. Wishing to further his education Glenmore attended Bronx Community College and Hunter College he graduated with an Associate and a Bachelor degree. After graduating from Hunter College he worked for the U.S.P.S. in various positions at different locations. He retired as a supervisor at the Morgan Station N.Y.C. In 1987 Glenmore became a member of the Convent Avenue Baptist Church. He was active in the Men’s Usher Board. He became president of the Men’s usher board. He worked in the church’s food pantry, visit the sick and the shut-ins, taught Sunday School and Bible Study. Glenmore became an ordained Deacon on January 15, 2017. Glenmore was a member of the King Solomon lodge. He leaves to celebrate his life, his sisters Cleopatra, Patsy Nugent, his brother Linval, daughter Kandyce, grandson Kaleph, granddaughter Kashmere and a host of relatives and friends. Glenmore Willesly Hinds will forever be remembered and loved by many.
