Joan Stewart was born on December 5, 1940, in Danville, Virginia., to Mr. and Mrs. Stewart. During her early years, the family moved to Harlem, NY, where Joan attended New York City Public Schools.
Joan was predeceased by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stewart; both husbands, Robert Offley and Lionel Van Duyne; her only child, Robert; and her sisters, Jacqueline and Patsy. Joan leaves behind to cherish her memory-her sister Geraldine. Her 3 grandchildren, Robert, Leslie, and Naomi; 8 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Phoenix, Jonathan, Sienna, Logan, LeNay, LeNard, and Lena; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many long-time friends.
She was employed for many years by the Helmsley Corp and in time became manager of the cleaning staff. Soon after, Joan met and married her first husband, Robert Offley, in NY, and they became parents to one son, Robert Offley. After the death of her husband, Joan met and married Lionel Van Duyne in 1991. There were no offspring from this union. In the early 2000s, Joan and Lionel divorced, and shortly afterwards Lionel passed away.
