Obituary For Judge Bryant

Son of God, and mother, Gladys Williams, he was born March 24, 1948, in Williston, South Carolina. He played Varsity football and was a linebacker. He graduated from Kelly Edward High School. Before devoting his singing to full gospel, he sung in various clubs and speakeasys as an infamous singer. Often telling stories before serenading the audience with his powerful voice that could raise the dead to move their body to life. Stories of his singing were told with vibrant, colorful, and deep love.

Judge Bryant born Judge Wiliams, 77, passed away on February 22nd in Jamaica Queens, New York. Judge was an anointed singer of God’s word. He led and sung in various gospel groups and was known in Black churches throughout the South and New York City.

Judge had a heart for people, just like Jesus. His laughter was childlike and jovial, and his appetite was big for southern food. He was known to his siblings as Nuddabread because he loved cornbread and biscuits.

Once he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, his singing was devoted to praising God and uplifting God’s people. He was the lead singer in the gospel groups The Spiritual Aries of North Carolina and Melodies Airs of Brooklyn, New York. They produced recorded CDs and VHS.

He was preceded to heaven by his mother; wife, Rose Howard-Bryant; son, Kenneth Bryant; sister, Pearline Pegram and Gloria Gibbons; nephew, Steven Pegram; aunts and uncles. He is survived by his ex-wife Johnnie Ann Martin, of Tampa, Fl, mother of their children: oldest daughter Nicole Bryant Redmond of Austin, TX, husband Alphonzo D. Redmond, and Breanna Redmond, granddaughter; surviving son, Keith Bryant of Bronx, NY; his brother James Moore Jr. (Jimmy) and wife Dawn Moore of Springfield, Massachusetts; brother John Edwards of Springfield, Massachusetts; nieces, Delores Spinks and Denise Williams; nephews George Williams, Michael Pegram and Shaun Pegram; stepchildren from his current wife (whom passed in 2020); and his brother-friend Willie Benton of Brooklyn, New York.

Judge was a deeply loved father, brother, cousin and friend. His spirit was compassionate, kind-hearted, and triumphed. He judged no man and laughed with saints and sinners. His passing was celebrated with joy as anyone he truly knew him knew he went back home to his magnificent creator where he could sing with his family, ancestors and angels.

While we lost our anointed singer for God, beloved dad, many have lost a friend and loved one in him. He has been a pillar of many communities, a generous friend, and prayer warrior, ready to sing on demand. Judge sung, One Day At A Time Sweet Jesus, at his son funeral in 2018. May we all remember this song as we move forward and honor his life in joy.
