My Dearest Karen (KK),
News of your passing has left me devasted. You were not only a co-worker at Swiss Re, but a dear friend.
Thank you for always being there, your kindness, support and understanding. For always making me laugh, even on my darkest days.
KK, though you left us way too soon, heaven received an angel. This is not a goodbye, but rather, I will see you again one day. Until then, my friend, I will never forget you and cherish every memory.
To Karen's family and friends, my deepest condolences.
With Love, Marie
My heartfelt condolences to Karen's family. I had the privilege of working with Karen at Swiss Re for almost 10 years. Through all the ups and downs of working life, Karen always had a wonderfully philosophical way of looking at things. I remember how excited she was when she called to tell me she was joining Starr's Casualty team. Karen kept in touch, often sharing interesting industry articles and making sure that I, "the Canadian," stayed current with U.S. market trends. Our conversations also went well beyond insurance. Karen spoke fondly of her family, and we talked about helping her mother through an apartment renovation and move, Thanksgiving dinners and recipes, and one particularly ambitious beer-can chicken-in-a-turkey preparation. Karen, perhaps wisely, was in charge of the sides. We talked about her cottage renovations in upstate New York, the sometimes elusive search for good contractors, the weeds that seemed determined to take over her cottage garden, and what she might grow instead. Karen developed a special fondness for Japanese maples, and we would scour garden centres online looking for end-of-season bargains, hoping the maples we found would survive the upstate New York winters. It is those ordinary conversations about work, family, food, cottages and gardens that I will remember most fondly. Karen left a lasting impression on me and will be dearly missed. With love and fond remembrances Sasha
