Marcus McDonald, lovingly known as “Milly,” was born on June 17, 1993, at Bronx Lebanon Hospital to his beloved parents, Esther McDonald and Basil Osbourne. From the very beginning, Marcus carried a light that naturally drew people toward him. He was charismatic, intelligent, protective, ambitious, and deeply compassionate, the kind of man whose presence could brighten any room.
Marcus worked hard throughout his life and took pride in every role he held. He began working at Verizon, then served as security at Mercy College, later transitioning to Horizon Juvenile Center as a Youth Development Specialist. Working with youth was especially meaningful to him. Marcus saw something familiar in many of the young people he mentored and wanted to inspire growth, change, and hope in their lives. He cared deeply for children and always made sure they felt safe, supported, and understood.
Marcus attended P.S. 41 Elementary School, Richard R. Green Middle School, and High School of Computer technology, where he excelled academically and socially. He later attended Hostos Community College, where he studied Business Administration. Marcus was highly intelligent and naturally gifted with technology and computers. He was “Mr get it done.” Always having a solution, a fix, and a plan. He walked through life with a businessman’s mindset, earning him the nickname “Money Making Milly.”
Marcus lived life fully and unapologetically. He loved seafood, BMWs, fashion, music, technology, animals, and the finer things in life — but despite his love for luxury, he remained humble at heart. He loved dressing the flyest, always stepping out in all black with confidence that could fill a stadium. Marcus was a charming man with undeniable charisma. With his perfect smile and warm personality, he was friends with the CEO and the janitor. He treated everybody with equal respect and kindness.
Marcus loved deeply and protected fiercely. He was a devoted father to his son and lovingly embraced the role of father figure to his adopted daughter, Kehlani. He provided a safe, loving space not only for his own children, but for every child around him. Before Marcus Jr. was born, he was adamant that Pookie carry his name proudly as a junior. He was thoughtful, caring, and always thinking ahead for the future of those he loved most.
His older brother Ramel shared:
“Marcus was more than just my younger brother — he was my hero. I deeply admired the man he was and the life he built. He was a leader in our family and a devoted father. Watching him navigate the world with such grit made me proud to be his brother. While he left us far too soon, Marcus’s spirit will live on through his family and friends, who will forever cherish his memory and hold his light in their hearts.”
Marcus “Milly” McDonald lived boldly, loved deeply, and impacted countless lives. He was handsome, gentle, confident, loyal, protective, funny, thoughtful, and full of life. He was the type of person who would hold you down through anything. A true friend. A true protector. A true leader.
Though his passing leaves an unimaginable void, Marcus’s love, laughter, lessons, and spirit will continue to live on through every life he touched.
Forever loved.
Forever remembered.
Forever King Milly.
Marcus inherited much of his loving spirit from his mother, Esther. Their bond was deep, loving, and unbreakable. He viewed his mother as a queen and never hesitated to express his love and appreciation for her. His caring heart, generosity, and ability to embrace others came directly from the love she poured into him. Marcus always made sure his favorite lady was good.
