Obituary For Roosevelt Wemple

Roosevelt Wemple was born on March 1, 1937, to loving parents Lawrence Wemple Sr. and Carrie Stokes Wemple in Danville, Virginia. Raised in a close-knit family, Roosevelt spent his early years in Virginia, growing up alongside his siblings and guided by the values of hard work, family, and faith that helped shape him into the man he became.

With a strong sense of duty and pride, Roosevelt went on to serve his country in the United States Army, enlisting in 1955. His time in the military reflected his unwavering dedication, steadfast discipline, and quiet strength—qualities that would define his character for the rest of his life.

From his loving union with Lola, Roosevelt was blessed with two daughters, Daisy and Lavonia (who preceded him in death). He was also the proud father of his eldest daughter, Galevestone, from a previous relationship. Each of his daughters held a special place in his heart and brought immense joy and pride into his life.

After serving in the United States Army, Roosevelt began working, and it was during this time that he met his future wife, Lola Wemple. Though immediately drawn to her, he believed in keeping work and personal life separate. He told her that if he ever left the job, he would return and ask her on a date. True to his word, Roosevelt kept his promise. One date led to another, and their connection deepened, ultimately leading to their marriage on December 23, 1961. Together, they shared 59 years of devoted marriage, built on love, respect, and enduring commitment.

He found joy in life’s simple pleasures, such as riding his bike or heading out with a fishing pole in hand. His fishing gear was always ready in the garage, prepared for the next peaceful outing. Whether casting a line on a calm afternoon or sharing quiet moments with family, Roosevelt found deep meaning in the steady, gentle rhythms of life.

Roosevelt Wemple will be remembered for his kindness and quiet strength. He approached life with grace, treasured the small moments, and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. His legacy of love, strength, and quiet joy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

A lover of music, Roosevelt had a special appreciation for jazz. The smooth, soulful sounds filled his days and reflected the rhythm of his own life—calm, thoughtful, and deeply moving.
