Obituary For Shanequa Johnson

Shanequa Johnson was born on September 6ᵗʰ, 1973 in Bronx, New York to the late Yvonne Dorsett & James Johnson.

Shanequa was very intelligent, witty and wise beyond her years. She would later go on to be homeschooled from the 6ᵗʰ grade into high school. Although Shanequa had many childhood health complications, she beat those odds and later received her GED at the age of 17.

She wanted nothing more than to become a mother and truly show her child the love and affection her mother showed her. She would later give birth to her beautiful baby boy Devine. After the passing of her mother Yvonne, Shanequa would then raise her siblings Rhonda and Ronald Dorsett as well.

She loved God, family and having a good time. She was an avid reader of the Bible. Shanequa was an outgoing person, who loved socializing, making people laugh and being the life of the party, but she also knew when to take time out for herself. However, her and God had plans of their own which took place at sunrise on August 16ᵗʰ, 2025. Although Shanequa was a strong, loving woman, sister, family member, friend and neighbor, she unfortunately succumbed to her long battle with cancer. We all loved her but God loved her more.

Shanequa is survived by her son Devine, her brother Kevin, younger siblings Rhonda and Ronald. Her nieces Lashay & Alajsia, nephew Samuel, grand nieces Cali and Denver, cousins, close friends and neighbors who will miss her dearly.
