Shirley Morris, 65, of New York, passed early in the morning on September 22nd, 2025 at St Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx after a long battle with Interstitial Lung Disease.
She was born in Pompano Beach, Florida to her mother Thelma Lee Nesby. In her early childhood, she relocated to New York with her Mother and brothers. She attended P.S.146 as a young child and later as a teen she made the selfless decision to leave high school to begin working to support her family.
Shirley worked several jobs during her life before settling into a long career at Cambridge Security. She began as a security guard and worked her way up to the position of Head of Operations. She oversaw the management and assignments of over 300 security guards in the New York area. Throughout that time, Shirley worked hard to raise her children and instilled in them hard working values. She made lasting and enduring friendships throughout her life and was a one parent army for her children.
She loved music, a passion she shared strongly with her partner Seshi. She had an amazing voice that could rival any contemporary singer. Her culinary talent was well known and sought after. She was often contracted to cook by her colleagues for company office parties and special occasions. Her BBQ's were THE most anticipated events in our community. Her nurturing gifts brought people together and could tame any troubled heart.
We send Shirley home to join Thelma and her brothers Claude and Larry. She is survived by her younger brother Kenneth, her children Michael, Michelle, and Seshi Jr, her partner Seshi Sr, and extended family.
Funeral service is to be held on October 11, 2025 at Emanuel AME Church on 37 W 119th St in New York, at 4:30pm.
She will be missed and will always be in our hearts.
I was fortunate to know Miss Morris at Cambridge Security operations. Miss Morris was always helpful and kind, to junior operations staff like myself. Miss Morris would always make the best coffee at Cambridge. It kept us going on the overnight shift in operations! Really appreciate her & her sincere ways!
RIP MISS MORRIS
