On November 10, 2023, Mr. Gary Lee Henry, 65, of Union Point, GA, peacefully passed away with his wife, Marleen Smith Henry, by his side.
Gary was born on September 22, 1958 in Elkins, West Virginia to the late Harold (Hank) Henry and Virginia (Ginger) Loop Henry. He was preceded in death by his parents, both of his sisters, Darlene Henry Tribby of Hendersonville, NC and Donna Jean Henry of Locust, NC.
Gary graduated from West Stanly High School, Class of 1976 and attended University of North Carolina in Charlotte. Gary loved riding his Goldwing motorcycle and was a member of Goldwing Road Rider Association. He was also the district newspaper editor of North Carolina. He was a talented photographer and graphic designer in the Charlotte and Matthews, NC areas for many years prior to moving to Oglethorpe County, GA with his wife.
He is survived by his wife, Marleen Henry, of 24 years; brothers in law, Murray (Debbie) Smith of Loganville, GA and Brian Tribby of Hendersonville, NC; nephews, Nathan Robert Tucker and Stephen James Tucker; niece Melissa Marie Smith (Christopher Dean) Wallace, and their children Christopher Dean (Ansley) Wallace, Jr. and Alyssa Marie Wallace; niece Maggie Smith (Blake) Lundgren, and their sons, Wyatt and Nolan.
A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 11:00am at Barrett Funeral Home Oglethorpe with one hour viewing prior to the service.
Interment will be immediately after the service at Smith Family Cemetery in Maxeys, GA.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to Barrett Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel.
