Mr. David Arch “Bouncy Boy ” Lighty, son of Perry Lighty, Sr. and Louise M. Lighty was born on July 20, 1959 in Dillon, South Carolina. He attended the public schools of Dillon and was a 1977 graduate of Dillon High School. As a child and before he left Dillon, he attended St. Matthew AME Church. In 1978 he enlisted in the US Navy. Shortly after his duty with the US Navy, he made San Diego, California his home. He loved dancing, cooking, caring for children and filling any room with laughter. In the US Navy, he served as a Hospital Corpsman. After his naval enlistment, he returned home to work at Saint Eugene Hospital. After moving to San Diego, California, many years were spent as Scripps Mercy Hospital and Scripps Promise Hospital as a psych tech and certified LVN. In 2012, he obtained certification from Mueller College (San Diego) as a Holistic Health Practitioner in Integrated Bodywork. He was preceded in death by his father, Perry Lighty, Sr. and brothers -in -law Thomas Smith and Larry Hargrove. His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his family and friends. He is survived by, his mother: Louise Lighty of Dillon, SC; brothers: James (Mary) Lighty, Perry Lighty, Willie (Mary) Lighty and Sam (D aisy) Lighty all of Dillon, SC and Curits (Shelva) Lighty of Pottstown, PA; sisters: Lula Smith, Willena (Calvin) Dunson and Hattie Hargrove all of Dillon, SC; his beloved and best companion, Dinky the Bird; his Goddaughters: Nichole Duncan of San Diego, CA and Michelle Gilchrist of Dillon, SC; three special grandchildren: Semaj S Simpson, Tuhlon and Kailan Duncan all of San Diego, CA; friend Barbara Edwards and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
