The Obituary ~
Ethel Mae Rowell, daughter of the late Malachi Jackson and the late Corien Burgess was born on February 11, 1937. She departed this earthly life on July 23, 2021 at McLeod Medical Center in Dillon, South Carolina after a brief illness.
Ethel Mae attended the public schools of Dillon, South Carolina. She was employed by Dixiana Mills of Hamer, South Carolina for over 20 years until its closing.
Ethel Mae joined Millers Chapel as child and served faithfully until her health failed. She served in any capacity she was needed. She was President of the Deaconess Board, President of the Ministry of Kindness, Member of the Senior Choir, Sunday School Teacher, President of Acolytes, member of the WHOMS, and was the advisor of the Young Adult Choir for more than 20 years.
Ethel Mae was married to the late Maxie βKojakβ Rowell for 63 years and she missed him greatly.
To this union six children were born. A daughter, Bebe Olinda Rowell, a grandson, Khalil Rowell, two sisters, Rosa Bell Dunham and twin, Lela Mae Brooks, and brother James Frank Jackson, and adopted sister Mary Ann Carmichael preceded her in death.
Ethel Mae leaves to cherish her loving memories, a daughter, Myra Rowell Bethea (Michael), Dillon, SC; Four sons, Maxie Leon Rowell of the home, Michael Rowell (Betty), Timothy Rowell all of Little Rock, SC. and Ronald Rowell (Terra), Marion, SC. One sister, Minnie Brown, Dillon and one adopted sister, Shirley Alford, Florence, SC;Four Sister-in laws, Azalea Glenn of Union, SC; Maggie McLaughlin; Sally Gates (Dennis), and Angela Rowell, and brother-in-law, Shelton Rowell all of Dillon, SC. She was blessed with a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she expressed her love to from the oldest to the youngest, and many nieces, nephew, cousins and other relatives and close friends.

I'm honored to offer condolence to the Rowell Family. Thing I enjoyed the most was attending Sunday School when she taught. I also loved her children singing. She was such a sweet soul.
