Rethea Casey Mitchell, affectionately known as “TAB” was born on June 17, 1927 in Dillon County, South Carolina to the late John and Thelma Casey. She departed this earthly life on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at her residence in Marion, South Carolina.
Rethea received Christ at an early age. She was blessed with the wonderful gift of music of playing the piano. She played for numerous churches in Dillon County for over sixty years. Rethea had an awesome career as a home maker, she took her job to heart. She kept a clean home, prepared awesome meals, raised exceptional children and grandchildren and even took time to discipline and feed a lot of the neighborhood kids; she just loved everybody. Her love for Christ flowed to everyone she encountered.
Rethea was preceded in death along with her parents; her husband: James A. Mitchell Sr; an infant son: Levern Mitchell; sisters: Lillie Bell Casey, Hannah Carmichael and Clovis Everett; brothers: Jasper Casey, Anderson Casey and Nathaniel Casey; sisters-n-law: Roseanna Casey, Maddie Casey, Sallie M. Johnson, Beatrice Bradshaw, Elizabeth Thompson and Isabella Pearson; brothers-n-law: Tracy Carmichael and Thomas Everett; grandchildren: Vonda McCall and Vondell McCall and a daughter-n-law: Doris J. Mitchell.
Rethea leaves to cherish her loving and fond memories ~ eight children: Ruth McCall, James A. Mitchell Jr., Sallie B. (John) Jones, Jerry Mitchell, Lenora M. Williams, Alberta M. (Luther) Coit, Larry (Vivian) Mitchell, Robert P. Mitchell; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren, seven great, great grandchildren; sisters: Thelma Casey and Essie Chandler; brother: Hubert Casey and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, the Weston Chapel Church Family and friends.
