Donjoir Lamont “Reigo” Morrison was born to Jessie M. White and Joe C. Hines on February 6, 1966 in Clio, South Carolina. He was the first grandchild of Jessie J. Morrison and Annie M. Brown Morrison and Joe Hines Sr. and Nettie Hines, all who preceded him in death. He was the light of his mother’s eyes and her first born.
At an early age, Reigo joined Piney Grove United Methodist Church in Maxton, North Carolina where he sang in the choir and served as president of the youth ministry. After he grew up and completed his education in North Carolina, he moved to Philadelphia, PA to be close to his mother. While maintaining his membership with Piney Grove, he became affiliated with Love Zion Baptist Church where he served as the Director of the Celestial Choir. Later, he relocated to Riverdale, Georgia and became affiliated with God’s House where he was ordained on November 12, 2010 as a Chief Elder under the leadership of Bishop Mellonee H. Willis. He was the Director of Job’s House, which was a church ministry for substance abusers.
Donjoir attended R.B. Dean School in Maxton, North Carolina and graduated in 1984 from South Robeson High School in Rowland, North Carolina. He also attained his BS and ACS Degrees in Counseling from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. He worked very hard helping others and his house was known as a home that all were welcomed to enter and find the compassion, grace and peace of Jesus Christ. He worked as a pastry chef at Fresh Grocer, manager at McDonald’s and at ARA Food Server.
In addition to his grandparents, he was preceded in death by an uncle, Lennon Morrison.
Reigo leaves to cherish fond memories ~ a loving and devoted mother and stepfather: Jessie and Charles White of Raeford, NC; a loving father and stepmother: Joe and Jessie Hines of Maxton, NC; two daughters, whom he loved and adored with all his heart: Amaya and Nyria Devette both of Riverdale, GA; three sisters: Sandra C. (Martin) McKenzie of Philadelphia, PA, Veronica (Tony) Patterson of Laurinburg, NC and Yvette McLean (Jerome) Alford of Maxton, NC; two brothers: Michael (Priscilla) Hines of Charlotte, NC and Darryl Hill of Alabama; one special nephew: Shawn Harcum; two aunts: Nellie (John) Braswell and Nettie Marie Hines; four uncles: Harry Morrison, John (Olinda) Morrison, Jessie (Sabrina) Morrison and Chester (Kim) Morrison; one great uncle: Deacon Willie Howard (Ruby) Brown and one great aunt: Maggie McCall; very special friends who are caring for his daughters: Evangelist Roberta and Calvin Armstrong along with her mother: Ruby Taylor; additional special friends: Paul Wesley, James Davis, Ben Young, Roberto Walker, Ashley Walker, Amare Walker, Lyndon Alford, Minister Lisa Carthen, Dr. Vanessa Alford and Lyndon Morrison and a host of other relatives and friends.
