Obituary For Mr. Joshua Taylor

Joshua Devon Taylor “Josh” was born on February 18, 1998 in Dillon County, South Carolina. He was the loving son of Margie Taylor Dunson and James Curtis Johnson. Josh gained his wings and departed this earthly life on Sunday, August 12, 2018.

Josh attended and graduated from Dillon High School, Dillon, South Carolina in the class 2016.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Elijah and Sarah Taylor; his paternal grandparents: Alphonso “Buddy” and Rosie Mae Johnson, and his God-mother: Annie Mae Bethea. Josh was a member of Hazy Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Hamer, South Carolina, where he came to understand the teachings of Christ and at an early age he gave his life to him. Josh was a gentle giant with the warmest heart and loved everyone that he came in contact with. His genuine love, caring spirit, and affectionate smile was felt by all that knew him. Josh had a passion for cooking and was known as a great cook.

Josh leaves to cherish his fond and loving memories ~ his parents: Margie Taylor Dunson, James Curtis (Loraine) Johnson both of Dillon, SC; his siblings: Precious German, Christina Johnson both of Dillon, SC, Dyquashia Johnson of US Army Korea and Desarie Williams of Alabama; his nieces and nephews: Xavien, Tylik, Yamasia, Zatoria and XaShaun; a large host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Josh shared special bonds with all his aunts, uncles, and cousins, but he affectionally called and referred to his Uncle Freeman and Aunt Naomi Davis as his Mom and Dad, and he was loved as a little brother to Lamont, Christopher, Tyrone and Veronica “Angenee.” Josh was also considered as a second son to Neece Gooden McNair, and as a Big Brother to Dez Gooden.

JESUS’ ROLE IN COMFORTING ALL WHO MOURN God intended that Jesus have a key role in providing comfort. Among other tasks that God assigned him, Jesus was “to bind up the brokenhearted” and “comfort all who mourn.” (Isaiah 61:1, 2) As foretold, Jesus took a special interest in people who were “toiling and loaded down.”—Matthew 11:28-30. Today, the Son of God is not present on earth to comfort us personally. But his Father, Jehovah, “the God of all comfort,” continues to help those in need. (2 Corinthians 1:3) Consider four principal means that God uses to comfort people. • The Bible. “All the things that were written beforehand were written for our instruction, so that through our endurance and through the comfort from the Scriptures we might have hope.”—Romans 15:4. • God’s Holy Spirit. Not long after Jesus’ death, the whole Christian congregation entered into a period of peace. Why? “It walked in the fear of Jehovah and in the comfort of the holy spirit.” (Acts 9:31) The holy spirit, God’s active force, is very powerful. God can use it to comfort anyone in any circumstance. • Prayer. “Do not be anxious over anything,” the Bible advises us. Rather, it says, “let your petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your mental powers.”—Philippians 4:6, 7. • Fellow Christians can provide a comforting ‘safety net’ of true friends. The apostle Paul described his companions as “a source of great comfort” in times of “distress and tribulation.”—Colossians 4:11; 1 Thessalonians 3:7.
