Mr. Steven Andre McAllister was born in Dillon SC to the late John Robert and Annie Mae McAllister. Steve, as he was affectionately known, attended Dillon High School. Steve was converted and gave his life to the Lord later in life. He knew that life was but a short time on this side of heaven and there was a home on the other side that needed him to confess God as his Savior. Steve was quick to let you know that his grandma Rosa Bell taught him to keep a scripture in his heart for those troubled days. And on those days, he would bear witness of God’s goodness through songs and his personal testimony of things he endured. Without shame, he didn’t mind sharing the struggles in his life and how he knew God had a plan and purpose for him. Steve really loved the Lord and loved going to church. He was quick to say he loved to go for the singing. He made his church home in the many cities where he lived and worked. An avid lover of singing, he joined the choir at those churches and would send videos to his family of him leading songs such as “Jesus dropped the Charges” and “I wanna go where the Thunder don’t Roll”. Steve loved to sing hymns; his favorite was “Swing low Sweet Chariot”. Steve worked in many capacities such as the restaurant and construction industry. He learned to cook many delicious foods and desserts for the family. He utilized his skills in construction to work in many states until his disability. Steve loved to help anyone who needed him. He loved talking to and helping the senior citizens. He could be seen and heard singing gospel while working in yards or playing with his dog. Steve got so much joy making the folks in the community and those around him laugh. He was such a comedian…and met no stranger. Steve will be missed by family. He became the overseer of the family property and took this job very serious and with honor. He adored his nephews and nieces, and they adored him. Steve truly loved his loved his children and would beam with pride when he spoke of them. Preceding him in death were his parents, Annie Mae and John Robert McAllister; one brother, Bobby Gene McAllister; nephews, Anthony Jermaine McAllister, Bobby Montrey McAllister, Jamison Preston Pernell, Christopher Rondell McAllister, Jr., Quincey Fulmore, and one niece, Jazmine Adore McAllister Steven will be remembered and forever loved by his four children: Stephon McAllister, of Dillon, SC, Sartisha Green, of Dillon, SC, Danielle McAllister of Greensboro, NC, and Jeremiah Graves of Dillon, SC; two grandchildren; Ja’Qwan Graves, Jr. and Massiah Graves of Dillon, SC; four brothers; James McAllister of Florence, SC, Edward (Betty) Graham of Red Spring, NC, Robert Anthony (Linda) McAllister of Dillon, SC and Christopher (Elizabeth) McAllister of Timmonsville, SC; one sister: Cynthia (Douglas) Pernell of Dillon, SC; two aunts, Sally Winslow of Rowland, NC and Ida Francis McDougal of Lumberton, NC; one Uncle, William Graham of Fairmont, NC; an adopted niece, Nikki Smutherman of Charlotte.
