Sharon Renea Swinney Orr departed this life to go home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 23, 2020. She was born on May 31, l964 to the Late Clifton Swinney and the Late Novella Jones Swinney. Today, even though our hearts are filled with great sadness, we feel so very blessed to have had these years with her and do rejoice in knowing that she is now in God’s loving care.
Affectionately known as “Cheryl” by close family and friends, Sharon was born and reared in Dillon, South Carolina. The youngest of five siblings, she was a much beloved, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, niece , cousin, co-worker and friend. At a young age, she dedicated her life to Christ and joined Manning Baptist Church in Dillon, South Carolina. She later became an active member of Goff Street Outreach Ministries in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she served as a member of the Usher Board and of Apostolic Church of God in Atlanta, Georgia where she served as Deaconess as well as other church ministries. Sharon was a proud member of the Dillon High School Class of 1982 and received her bachelor’s degree from Morris College in Sumter, South Carolina. In 1996 Sharon married Patrick Orr. Sharon and Patrick were blessed to create a beautiful blended family with sons, Kent Smith, Jr. and Patrick V. Orr and daughter, Antwonette Orr.
Sharon’s outgoing personality and legendary customer service expertise allowed her to enjoy a long and successful career as an integral member of the Marriott Hotels Management Team in both North Carolina and Georgia. At the time of her death, she was employed as supervisor of the Unaccompanied Minors Program at Douglas International Airport in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Sharon was preceded in death by her father Clifton, her mother Novella, her mother-in-law Willie Orr and her father-in-law Henry Jennings.
Sharon leaves to cherish her precious and fond memories her devoted husband, Patrick Orr; sons, Kent Smith, Jr. and Patrick V. Orr; daughter, Antwonette Orr; grandchildren, Jamari Smith, Makayla Brown and Kinsley Brown; brothers, Clifton (Deborah) Swinney, Larry (Brenda) Swinney, and Daril (JoAnn) Swinney; sister, Naomi Swinney (Stanley) Mitchell; sisters-in-law, Alice Orr, Darline Jennings, Nadine Jennings, and Janeka Silimon; aunts, Tina Barnhill, Florine (Izell) Jones, and Marilyn (Larry) Davis; uncles, Franklin Jones, Marvin Jones, Stephen Jones and Ronnie Jones; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers.
