Annie Catherine Huggins or “Cat” as she was affectionately called was born on May 7, 1948 to the late Cicero “Hipp” Huggins and Eula Johnson Huggins. She was the eleventh of fourteen children.
Cat was educated in the Dillon County Public Schools in Dillon, South Carolina graduating from Gordon High School in the class of 1967. She was a faithful member of the New St. Mark Baptist Church since her childhood.
One characteristic of “Cat” was that she believed in hard work and taking care of others. She worked in several manufacturing jobs until their closures. The song says earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot cure. At times like this the hurt is fresh. Another song says morning by morning new mercies I see, Great is thy faithfulness - this is a reminder that God will send the Holy Comforter to sustain you during this time of grief. Hold to God’s unchanging hands and wait for new mercies. Rev. Dr. Frank Blue
