Martha Lee Stewart was born on January 13, 1941 in Marion County, South Carolina to the late Henry Pete Stewart Sr. and the late Rosie Bell Brown Stewart. Martha departed this earthly life to enter into eternal life on Friday, February 28, 2020 in Brooklyn, New York.
Martha attended the public schools system in Dillon County, South Carolina and graduated from Gordon High School in 1959. Martha migrated to New York after graduating from high school and has been a resident of Brooklyn, New York for sixty-one years. She worked in different areas of employment for the State of New York during her sixty-one years as a resident.
Martha accepted our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age while attending Hazy Grove Baptist Church under the pastorship of the late Reverend James S. Hall Sr. and Manning Baptist Church under the late Reverend Dr. Edward Allen Spann Sr. after re-locating to New York she joined and was a faithful member of the Union Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York where her pastor was the late Reverend Dr. Aaron Augusta Wood. Martha sang on the Temple Choir, participated in other ministries of the church until her health begin to decline. Martha was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, faithful and loyal friend to all that knew her.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; an infant and brother: Henry Pete Stewart Jr.
Martha leaves to cherish her memories ~ her loving and devoted children who assisted with her care: Stephanie, Joy, Shawn all of Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren: Samantha, who was raised as her fourth child, Jamel, Nathaniel all of Brooklyn, NY and Shanece of Delaware; nieces: Jerri Lewis, Madalyn Lewis, Ava Lewis all of Dillon, SC; great niece: Amayah Lewis of Dillon, SC; sisters: Ida Stewart of Brooklyn, NY who also assisted with her care: Rosa Stewart and Evangelist Shirley Harrison both of Dillon, SC; her caregivers: Elizabeth Paul and Jennifer Tinson of New York; remaining classmates of the graduating class of 1959 who was special to her and a host of other special and adopted nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to name.
