Obituary For Reverend Lacy Green Jr

The Obituary ~ I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept Faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous judge shall give me at that day and not to me only but to all them also that love his appearance. 2 Timothy 4: 2-8 Reverend Lacy Green, Jr. was born on May 4, 1957 in Dillon South Carolina and he departed this earthly life on September 1, 2021 in Lumberton, North Carolina. This bundle of joy was born to the late Lacy Green and Reverend Willina Green. Reverend Lacy Green was a member of St. Matthew A.M.E. Church. He was educated in Dillon County School System. On August 26, 1978 he was united into Holy Matrimony to Emma Taylor Green, who he effectively called his wife, bae, his sweetheart, the sunshine of his life and his everything. He accomplished so much it’s almost impossible to tell it all. This is a preview of a little walk on this journey of Lacy Green, Jr.; the author of the book "I Refuse To Be......" and the artist of many CDs, the most recent one, "Super Sonic Praise". HIS CHRISTIAN JOURNEY This journey was one of the most important one of all. It began at an early age with his mother teaching eight small children how to get down on their knees at night and say their prayers. LACY eventually took matters in his own hand, without mother by his side and gathering his siblings in the front room of the house and he would lead them in prayer. Lacy loved St. Matthew AMEC and his church family. Pastor G.E. Glover was his first pastor at St. Matthew AMEC He instilled more knowledge into Lacy’s life without hesitation that he would one day serve the Lord with greatness. After Rev. Glover’s death, Rev. Johnnie O. Coe became the pastor of St. Matthew A.M.E. He took Lacy under his wings. Lacy was ordained and admitted into the Annual A.M.E. Conference. His Christian journey didn't stop there, the Lord directed Lacy to the Love and Joy Christian Center in Lumberton, NC under the leadership of Pastor John Whitfield. Lacy continued to work for God Almighty helping with Pastoral duties and worked with the youth praise and worship leader. He was available whenever the Lord needed him to serve. Lacy also helped his mother the late Reverend Willina Green pastor Fellowship of Disciples in Dillon, South Carolina. He always surrounded himself around knowledge and wisdom and that definitely made him wiser. If you ever just had a seat in his presence, his wisdom would impact you and your life was touched by someone you knew was a true child of God. Lacy has touched so many people through his Ministry and Martial Arts with his larger than life spirit. MILITARY LIFE Lacy always had a desire to join the military. He enlisted in the United States Army on April 2, 1982 and served until April 2, 1992…receiving an honorable discharge. He was stationed in Fayetteville, North Carolina in the 82nd Airborne Elite Division serving with honor. He led soldiers into combat in Desert Storm. Lacy has so many stories from this time frame in his life. He often shared how he parachute from the sky at night. People always asked him, if he was scared because it seem dangerous to jump out of a plane at night. Lacy would answer, "No, it was kinda fun and I felt close to God". He would always end that answer with his contagious laugh. MARTIAL ARTS BOOM LIKE LIGHTING, STRIKE LIKE THUNDER! Lacy began learning karate at the age of nine in 1966 under Jimmy McCoy. His first love of comic books was "Shang' Chi" the First Karate Comic Book ever. ~ The Obituary ~ Lacy was the owner and operator of Thunder Zone Martial Arts Sports Academy in Lumberton North Carolina. STRIKE LIKE LIGHTING, BOOM LIKE THUNDER was his motto for his school. If you ever call the school you would hear on his answering machine, loud thunder and lighting, followed by, "You have now enter the Thunder Zone". You knew special skills were being developed. He taught his children how to master the arts knowing this day would come and they would be able to take the torch and carry on the school name. Lacy’s students loved him dearly and he loved them even more. He was their Legend, there War Angel, Grand Master, Warrior, Hanshi, Sensi, and Master Sensi. Lacy had a love and passion for Martial Arts. He was inducted in the Martial Arts Hall Of Fame in 2003, War Angel Lacy Green. On this week he was also inducted into The Legends Of Carolina Martial Arts, Columbia, South Carolina. The War Angel name came about when he was trying to come up with a name to represent his legacy and what he was building. In a conversation he was having with his brothers, he was throwing around names, he wanted to keep the word War in the name, but could never come up with the right fit. WAR Eagle came up. His mother overheard her son struggle with this task. She gave her advice by suggesting the name "War Angels" meaning Warriors for Christ. Lacy said, that's perfect mama. In that moment the legends began. The National Black Belt Lead Circuit War Angel. Lacy birthed TZK (Thunder Zone Kararte). This is the hottest competition team in North and South Carolina. Then another birth took place, that of PPKF (Professional Point Karate Federation). Covering two states in the Carolinas. The MATT was birth, Martial Arts Tournament Tour. The First Premier Tournament Circuit of the Southeast to Certified Referees. In the 90’s Grand Master Lacy Green and nine other promoter rebirth the PPKF. Years later Thunder Zone Karate transition to The Green Brothers Karate. This is the current circuit of the Carolina. This is how you become a legend by building one. The best of the best.
