Deacon Willie James Hand, Jr. received the gift of life on September 8, 1934, in Folkston, Georgia, to the late Willie James, Sr., and Rosa Mae Hand. Deacon Hand accepted Christ as his personal Savior and became a devoted member and patriot of Faison Temple Church of Christ Written in Heaven under the leadership of the late Bishop Walter Williams. He now faithfully serves under the leadership of Pastor Darlene Cutler. Deacon Hand was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousins, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him. Deacon Hand transitioned from this life to eternal rest on November 10, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty; three sons, Lewis, Dwight and Clarence; one brother, Bryant (Annie Jean) Hand; two sisters, Katherine (Bill) Jones and Rosa (Tim) Williams; and two stepsons, Lewis Wright and Darrell Vann. He leaves a lifetime of love and cherished memories with: his wife, Bernice Vann Hand of Wewahitchka, FL; four sons, Isacc Hand, Clifford (Carolyn) Hand both of Panama City, FL, Luthus (Elisa) Hand of Wewahitchka, FL, and Christopher (VaTrina) Hand of Tucson, AZ; two stepsons, Walter Wright and James Wright, both of Wewahitchka, FL; one stepdaughter, Erica Scott of Wewahitchka, FL; special grandchildren, Jacquelyn Sewell, Chisa Robinson, James McGhee, Robin Peoples, Shemekie Hand, Aleasha Hand, Michelle Hand, Simone Bankston, Kayla Hand, Megan Galvin, Natasha Hand, Jailyn Hand, Sadoya Hand, Joshua Hand, Datrion Hand, Ja’Drien Hand, and Nalaila Hand; two brothers, Lester Hand and Earnest (Lucinda) Hand, both of Wewahitchka, FL; one sister, Riller (Eddiebee) Hunter of Wewahitchka, FL; special cousin/friend, Willie Williams and Margo Smith and a host of great grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom will miss him deeply.
Homegoing services will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 12:00 noon at the Faison Temple Church of Christ Written in Heaven located at 1520 Highway 22A in Wewahitchka, FL with Pastor Barry Hand, Elder Clyde Gray, Minister Christopher Hand and Pastor Darlene Cutler officiating. Interment will follow in the Williamsburg Cemetery in Wewa with the caring staff of Battle Mortuary directing.
Visitation will be Friday, November 15, 2024, from 4 to 6 pm at Faison Temple.
