Obituary For Mrs. Lillie Lee Sargent

Lillie Lee Sargent’s race began on September 14, 1942, in Saco, Alabama, as the first born child of Mr. and Mrs. Moses Faison. She finished her course peacefully on October 16, 2024, with her beloved sister, Mildred, by her side.

She was educated in the public schools of Bay County. She accepted Christ at a tender age and joined Antioch Temple Church of God In Christ. She was united in marriage to the late Harry D. Sargent, Sr. This union was blessed with three children.

Lil, as she was affectionately known, spent most of her adult life working as a housekeeper. It was a fitting profession because of her love of cooking, interior decorating, and gardening. Cooking was her love language, and you always felt the love when partaking in her delicious and meticulously-garnished meals. Her home was the center of many family gatherings
where we feasted on everything from buttermilk biscuits and fried fish “backs” to cornish hens. She often arranged and rearranged her furniture and pieces, adding special painted accent walls and cabinets to achieve the perfect look. Having
the gift of green thumbs, she had the best lawn, gardens, and the most beautiful plants and flowers throughout her home. She passed that gift to her daughter, Tracy, who won awards for having the best lawn on Tyndall AFB.

She enjoyed a strong cup of coffee, watching NBA hoops (especially her favorite, Allen Iverson), and spending time with family and friends. With her signature style she would let you know exactly what was on her mind, sometimes using pretty colorful language to emphasize her point. She kept that indomitable spirit until the end. With a larger-than-life personality, she could be described as stubborn, cantankerous, and fussy, but thoroughly entertaining with a great sense of humor. Flashing those huge dimples and infectious smile, she lit up every room she entered.

Lil displayed unparalleled strength and determination raising her children as a single mom while looking after her own
mom, often sending meals to her home and making sure she was taken care of. She lovingly opened her home to her grandchildren when there was a need and even took in the worst family pet known to man. It was Lil’s fierce love, devotion and dedication to her family that enabled her to overcome many obstacles in life and achieve a feat only accomplished by few-raising a son who rose to the rank of major general in the US Army.

In addition to her parents, Moses and Willie Ree Faison, and husband, Harry, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Tracy Sutton, and great-granddaughter, Maya Breedlove.

She leaves priceless memories that will be forever cherished by her daughter, Constance Garrett (Daryl) of Panama City, Florida; sons, Major General Patrick Sargent, US Army Retired (Sherry) of Lorton, Virginia, and Harry “Danny Boy” Sargent of Charlotte, North Carolina; devoted son-in-law, John Sutton, Sr., of Crestview, Florida; sister, Mildred Singletery of Panama City, Florida; grandchildren, Crystal Jarmon, Ronald Jarmon, Jr., Roderick “Brian” Jarmon, Dominique Jarmon, Joshua Jarmon, Adam Jarmon, all of Panama City, Florida, Natashia Brown (Christopher) of Wylie, Texas, John Sutton, Jr., (Brittny) of Tampa, Florida, Samantha Sargent of Lorton, Virginia, and Devarius Lawton of Dothan, Alabama; several great-grandchildren, Joshua Jarmon, Legacie Jarmon, Ace Jarmon, Houston Jarmon, Leilani Jarmon, Ny’Asia
Breedlove, Joyrdan Breedlove, Milton Breedlove III, Donovan Brown, Leilani Brown, Ariyana Lawton, Nyana Bradley, Yar’Leigh Lawton, and Kenya Lawton; aunt, Mattie Fletcher of Augusta, Georgia; uncle, George Townsend of Montgomery, Alabama; niece, Ashley Singletery of Memphis, Tennessee; nephews, Adam Singletery (Shekinah) of Ypsilanti, Michigan
and Alexander Singletery of Atlanta, Georgia; special friend, Royce Yates of Panama City, Florida; special cousin, Dorothy “Dot” Washington (Maurice “Wash”) of Accokeek, Maryland; a beloved uncle, David James and family of Panama City, Florida and a host of cousins and friends.

She will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

A Life Celebration Service will be held on Saturday, November 02, 2024, at Antioch Temple Church of God In Christ located at 3501 East 2nd Street in Panama City, FL with Superintendent A. Paul Reed, Jr. presiding and Superintendent Emeritus John M. Gipson Pastor delivering the eulogy.

Public viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, November 01, 2024, at Antioch Temple Church of God In Christ from 5 pm until 7 pm.

Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories in Panama City, FL. with Battle Mortuary directing.
