Bernard's Family Funeral Care, The Eatonton Chapel, announces funeral service arrangements for Charleston McClendon of Stockbridge, Georgia ; he transitioned to eternal rest Saturday morning, March 2, 2024 at his residence.
Charleston Roseleus McClendon, a cherished member of the Griffin community, passed away at the age of 67. He dedicated over 34 years to serving his hometown as a devoted businessman. A proud graduate of Griffin High School, Class of 1974, Charleston was deeply involved in sports, coaching Little League baseball, basketball, football and golf. Throughout his life, he remained a steadfast advocate for youth in Dekalb, Henry, and Spalding areas. A faithful member of Clifton United Methodist Church for 36 years, Charleston leaves behind his loving wife, Joyce; sons Iaian, and Evian; brother Raymond; and grandchildren Zyaire, Adrienne, and Addison. He will be dearly missed by countless nieces, nephews, cousins, classmates, and friends, all of whom he touched with his warmth and generosity.
Services will begin Friday, March 8, 2024 with Viewing and Visitation at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 321 East Taylor Street, Griffin, Georgia 30223 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Floral arrangements will be received at the church from 12:00 until 6:00 P.M. on Friday. Charleston's Life will be Remembered and Celebrated Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the noon hour at Clifton United Methodist Church, 2918 Clifton Church Road S.E., Atlanta, Georgia 30316. Rev. Dr. Candy Thacker, Pastor will officiate; Bishop L. Jonathan Holston will present the eulogy.
