A native of Madison, Georgia, Jeffery Lamar Mosely was born April 3, 1965 to Annie Clara and the late Jeffery “JF” Mosley. He departed his earthly life peacefully surrounded by family on August 19, 2019 at Athens Regional Hospital.
Lamar “affectionately known as Shawty Mo” was educated in the Morgan County School System. He graduated from Morgan County High School with the Class of 1984. Throughout his education, he was a good student and an active member of the football team. Playing the lead positions on the field as the quarter back and the running back, he was nicknamed Freight Train. Just like a Freight train, Lamar was strong, focused, and unstoppable. Many of these same qualities were evident in Lamar’s work life as an adult. Lamar worked for many years in Quality Control at Legget & Platt, Georgia Pacific, and Dart plants. His co-workers and friends always respected his straightforward attitude and his sense of humor.
1 John 4:8 reads “Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” Lamar knew God and the true meaning of love. At an early age he gave his life to Christ and joined Calvary Baptist Church.
The strength of a man is in his character. Family was a top priority for Lamar. As a loving son, the bond between Lamar and his mother was simply special. She could always count on seeing him at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This was their special time to laugh, talk about family, and the current events of the day. He met and married his wife Tera Elaine Collins. Lamar was a dedicated husband, brother, and uncle who always made sure the women in his life were taken care of. He would keep their cars clean and protect them from anyone who came at them wrong.
As a father, he could not be more proud of his daughter Lamarion Denean (Dee)R. A beautiful bond that should never be broken, Lamar served as the guide for his daughter who has blossomed into a strong and courageous woman. Lamar was Dee’s knight in shining armour. He could solve any problem with ease and always supported her. Lamar lived a life of integrity and honesty, and set a positive example for his daughter of how to handle the world.
As a grandfather of three, he was always available to listen, had arms ready to hold, and an unwavering love. A dedicated grandfather, he never missed his 6:45 am call to Jay every morning, he never missed taking the boys to get their haircut, and taking his baby girl Jada “Big Mama” to get her hair done. Lamar motivated, encouraged, and loved on his grandkids all the time. They shared moments that they will cherish forever. Lamar poured into Jada, Jacere, and Jaden a strong sense of confidence that they will carry with them.
His legacy and love lives on with his mother Annie Clara Mosley, sister, Novita (Vincent) Smith; daughter, LaMarion (Rico) Cooper; niece, Jessica Smith; grandkids, Jaden Cooper, Jada Cooper, and Jacere Cooper; aunts, Gwen Mosley, Euria "Doll" Chenault; uncle, James Mosley; brother, Maurice Shaffer; special friend, Martha Ruth.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Calvary Baptist Church, Madison, Georgia, Pastor Hoke Smith, Officiating. Interment will follow in Madison Memorial Gardens.
