Bernard's Family Funeral Care announces the passing of Mr. Robert Wayne Salster of Madison, Georgia.

Robert Wayne Salster, “Crip Style Baby,” was born December 26th, 1978, to his parents, Douglas and Nancy Salster, in Covington, Georgia. They quickly made their way to Madison, where they raised Robert while his daddy worked at the late Jimmy Harper’s Dairy Barn. Robert started milking cows at the age of 7, buying his own school clothes and riding his go-cart down to Joe’s Store to buy candy so he could share it with the twins, Jill and Jane. By the time he was 14, Robert was working on cars. While attending high school at Morgan County High, he also held a full-time job at a factory. After high school, Robert lived a life no one could possibly imagine living—no one but ol’ Crip. It didn’t matter who you were or where you were; if you needed something fixed, if you needed a ride, or if you just needed a friend, you best believe Robert was right there, never once expecting anything in return. This often made his wife angry, telling him he was wasting his time for free when he could be making money. But Robert, with his heart of pure gold, would just smile and say, “Baby, we ain’t going to do without. You’re my Kool-Aid. It’ll be all right. I’ll be back in a little bit.”A soul so pure and so full of love, he didn’t understand the feeling of hate, often saying, “I don’t believe hate exists.” Robert was definitely a man of God, and you knew it because he had that agape love for everyone—not just God. Robert loved everyone, and everyone loved Robert. You have never, and will never, hear anyone say, “I don’t like Robert Salster.” “He’s the nicest person on the planet—that’s the difference between him and his wife,” he would often joke. Robert is survived by his stepdaughter, Diana Watson, and grandson, Sylas Alton Watson, of Greenville, Texas; his stepson, Mason Garland, of Pilot Point, Texas; his lovely mother, Nancy Salster, of Madison, Georgia; his wife of 12 years, his best friend, his fishing buddy, his sparring partner, and now broken woman, Sue Lynn Salster; and lastly, Robert’s sidekick, his tuxedo cat, Mr. James David F. Word. Robert will be laid to rest at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Morgan County, Georgia. Any donations to help with Robert’s funeral expenses may be made directly to Bernard’s Funeral Home in Madison, Georgia. Robert was a well-known and well-loved member of his community, and it will be a bit darker without him.

A graveside celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2026, at 11 A.M. at Sugar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 3371 Greensboro Road, Madison, Georgia 30650.
