Mrs. Shirley Little Levester of Grovetown, Georgia formerly of Eatonton transitioned to eternal rest Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Lexington Community Hospice House in Lexington, South Carolina.
Shirley was born September 5, 1949 in Putnam County, Georgia, to the late Rufus Little and Mary Little Johnson. Shirley graduated from Butler Baker High School as a member of the Class of 1967. After high school, Shirley gained employment at various companies including Eatonton Manufacturing Company, Enterprise Aluminum Company, and Carole Fabrics.
Shirley joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Hephzibah, Georgia; as a devoted member she served as a trustee and in various other ministries of the church.
On February 19, 1981, Shirley was united in holy matrimony to Samuel Lewis Levester. As a military spouse, Shirley travelled to duty stations and destinations all over the world for greater than 30 years with her husband. After his retirement from the U. S. Army they moved back to their home in Grovetown, Georgia.
Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, father, and two sisters, Mary L. Haugabrook and
Dorothy M. Reed.
She leaves to cherish her memories her devoted husband, Samuel Levester; her children, Angela
Harris (Thaddeus) Dennis of Eatonton, GA, Tokie Tyrone Harris of Grovetown, GA and Tomika
Levester Ivey of Augusta, GA; her grandchildren, Tyrone De'Antee (Holly) Harris of Huntsville, AL, La'Tayla Harris of North Augusta, SC and Gabrielle Ivey of Augusta, GA; her great-grandchildren, Skylar and Kendall Harris of Huntsville, AL; her sister, Fredia (Eldred) Farley of Atlanta, GA; sisters-in-law, Betty (Ned) Waller of Eatonton, GA, Helen (Robert) Solomon of Ellenwood, GA, and Ruby Levester of Eatonton, GA nieces and nephews, Bernard Haugabrook of Leesburg, VA, Katonya Farley of Atlanta, GA, Equa Farley of Grand Junction, CO; great nieces, Almira Martin of Atlanta, GA and Kiarra Farley of Grand Junction, CO; and best friend Annie Pressley Burke of Eatonton, GA; and a host of family and friends.
Viewing and visitation will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at The Eatonton Chapel of Bernard's Family Funeral Care from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Saint John A.M.E. Church, 220 Willie Bailey Street, Eatonton, GA 31024 where Rev. Wayne Griffin, Sr. serves as pastor; Rev. Simone Jones, pastor of Texas A.M.E. Church, Eatonton, GA will present Shirley's eulogy. After the service, family, relatives, and friends will proceed to Texas A.M.E. Church Cemetery where Shirley will be laid to rest.
The cortege will assemble Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. from 115 Oconee Meadows Way, Eatonton, GA 31024 for processional to Saint John A.M.E. Church.
