I placed an white candle to represent pearls.Dear God please look after my great aunt alice just as she looked after her family, bless her and give her all the happiness, she hope for us to have, and let her feel protected, just as we feel protected, by the angel we call Aunt Alice, lord we are truly going to miss the Matriarah of our family / warrenton country Great Aunt Rosie Alice ,was very loving, sweet, sassy, and phenomenal woman of God, Aunt Alice got dress and was fine a wine stepping out, dressed classic, gorgeous outfit, hat, red heels and purse on the middle of her arm, couldn't tell her nothing. Her beautiful smile would milk your heart,I remember going to her house with my grandfather Abraham (her late brother) aka Ham as she called him they would cut up and drink their favorite budweiser beer, aunt Alice loved her brother and the can of Budweiser, she loved it so much her decor in the house was budweiser lmao, she didnt care what you say about that beer, that was her baby and one of her favorite things ,southern cooking and a family with great morals and strong ethnic background. That little lady didn't play ,straight no chaser lmao sassy firecracker, it was a blessing to know her, and a beautiful thing to see her live 108 young years. I use to tease her son lonnie about his mom being so sassy and firm. Aunt Alice saw many things and adore alot of obstacles and challenges but though it all she held the family down in the midst of many celebration and storms. I ask that my family be giving strength today to lay the matriarch of our family to rest. Lya Roshowna Barnes ,Abraham &Milderd eldest granddaughter, and Mary's daughter .

In Remembrance of The Most Honorable Lady Roxie Alice Alston-Davis:
For decades, I stopped by her home to have lunch or dinner with The Centenarian and Uncle Lil-fellow. She knew home much I love side meat, cabbage, and her biscuits. We would set and talk for hours. Like most women of the day, Aunt Alice worked in the fields picking cotton, cucumbers, wrapping tobacco on sticks, milking cows, and raising eleven children. The true spirit of a woman is not determined during times of leisure and fruitfulness, but rather, determined during times of trials and tribulations. As with all people, life threw The Centenarian a curve or two challenging her ability to endure. Regardless of how great the intensity of the moment, she did not sub come to the urgency of the moment. Without question and under no uncertain terms, The Centenarian was an extremely strong woman capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
As a strong woman, I have always believed that she was a "phenomenon" in the field of motherhood. It is a fact that 99.9% of the time, she had the answer for any situation facing family, friends, and associates. No, she did not possess a PhD from Harvard or some other ivy league institution of higher learning. However, she had faith in a God that allow her to possess superior leadership, enormous level of intelligence and her ability to communicate with people under stressful conditions developed her into an authority that was widely sort when a difficult situation arises. David C. McClelland, an American Psychological Theorist noted for his work on achievement motivation, would view The Centenarian as an individual with a "strong personality coupled with a well-developed positive ego" to succeed in her goals to help others in their time of need.
It must be noted that due to her superior parenting skills, all eleven of her children succeeded in life. This was due to her keen interest in exercising firm discipline, the old fashion way, when needed. It is a blessing never having to use the families hard earn dollars to bail one of her children from jail or to hire a lawyer to defend them in a criminal case leading to a lengthy prison sentence. Truly, she was a remarkable Woman of Noble Character (Proverbs Chapter 31 verses 10-31) that taught family and friends the Wisdom of Life (Ecclesiastes Chapter 7 verses1-14), Generosity and Diligence (Ecclesiastes Chapter 11 verses 1-6), and Trouble and Death Comes to All (Ecclesiastes verses 1-12).
Finally, I want to thank The Duchess of the family for always keeping my siblings and I abreast of The Centenarian's health year-round. Additionally, I want to thank the two caretakers hired to ensure that The Centenarian live a comfortable life to the end. The Lord will surly bless you both for A JOB WELL DONE!!!
My dearest Great-Grandma Roxie, I am so grateful for the 109 years you spent on this Earth and for all the many lives you've created and touched during your time with us. You will always be in our spirit and in our hearts. We love you!! -Keneshia Lewis
