A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says, "Grieve not for me.
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.

I tell myself that God gave my children many gifts- spirit beauty, intelligence, the capacity to make friends and to inspire respect. There was only one gift he held back- length of life.

Keith Taylor, salesman at Boyd Automotive in Oxford, N.C. I met Mr. Palmer 20 plus years ago. I sold him vehicles over the years. We developed a relationship beyond salesman and client. We spoke regularly. His famous opening statement to our conversation was, " I am doing pretty good for an old man!" I never head him complain. He was always speaking about his family. I will miss our conversations. Thanks Mr. Palmer for the memories and our time together!
Uncle Thomas, I've just learned that you had moved to "another residential area" on Aug 5, 2024. This time, it's out of town in a place with such an "elevated and gorgeous view" you could only imagine, and with incredible neighbors that words are too inadequate to describe. Plus, this time, you have "a permanent address." Yet, somehow, my heart is saddened by the news. In the past few years, I've not been able to visit you as I used to and loved to do and I really missed those visits. However, I will always remember you, think of you and speak of you with fond remembrances of your kindness, thoughtfulness, great smile, huge laughter and of course your legendary gift of hospitality. May your family, including children (my cousins) Walter-III, Debra and Donald and your sister (Aunt) Mary receive some comfort in knowing that your huge circle of love speaks and spoke volumes. As does this circle, we too now "have a friend in high places" – you, my 103 years Uncle Thomas! Peace! Your niece Hattie B. Hockaday, hubby Al and our children Abbe, Kirk and Shawn Hockaday
Mr. Palmer was a very knowledgeable man. I really enjoyed listening to him. Praying for his family. AB Green
