Mrs. Ethel Mae Daniels transitioned on September 9, 2025 at her home in Brunswick Georgia.
The public walk through viewing is scheduled for Friday, September 19, 2025 from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. in the Magnolia Chapel at Brunswick Funeral Home, 2700 Albany St, Bwk Georgia.
The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 12 noon, Abyssinia Baptist Church, 2501 Albany Street, Brunswick Ga.
The interment will immediately follow the service in Greenwood Cemetery, 3301 Newcastle Avenue also in Brunswick Ga.
Ethel Mae Brantley Daniels, age 80, transitioned peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. Ethel Mae Brantley Daniels was born on April 16,1945 in Sandersville, Georgia to her loving parents Charlie Lee Brantley, Sr. (Deceased) and Johnnie Mae Brantley McDonald (Deceased). Her family later moved and settled in the city of Brunswick, Georgia. Mrs. Daniels was a graduate of the mighty class of 1964 of Risley High School. She later matriculated at Savannah State University (SSU) earning a B.S. degree in Social Studies and in 1975, Mrs. Daniels earned her M.Ed degree from Georgia Southwestern State University. She also completed post graduate studies at Georgia Southern University. Fifty-eight years ago, Mrs. Daniels was inducted into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc through the Delta Nu Chapter at SSU. She has served the sisterhood in a number of capacities over the years: President, Vice President, Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Sergeant at Arms, and Chair of the Social Action Committee
Mrs. Daniels taught school in Dodge and Glynn County for thirty-four years and was a member of the Georgia Retired Educators Association. Mrs. Daniels was a civil servant and worked tirelessly in many capacities. She served as the President of the Roberts Abbott Race Unity Institute. She worked with the American Red Cross, Brownies and Girl Scouts of America, and performed in many plays. Mrs. Daniels has worked with Court Appointed Special Advocates and Panel Review Board for several years. Mrs. Daniels was a faithful member of Abysinia Baptist Church. She served as a teacher of the adult Sunday school class, President of the Board of Ushers, President of the Pastor’s Aide Board, secretary of the Board of Trustees, and the director of the Black History plays.
Mrs. Daniels is proceeded in death by her brother Johnny McDonald, Sister Mary Elizabeth M.W. Love (Ronald) and niece Sabrina Brantley.
She is survived by her husband: Larry L. Daniels; son: Gary L. Chance Daniels (Shantel) of Charlotte, North Carolina; brother-in-law: James Daniels (Brenda) of Woodstock, Georgia; sister-in-law: Rev. Cheryl Douglas of Brunswick, Georgia; sister: Margaret Brantley of Snellville, Georgia; brothers: Charlie Brantley (Emma) of Lilburn, Georgia, and Rev Timothy McDonald III (Shirley) of Ellenwood, Georgia; four nephews: Richard Brantley (Rocio) of Snellville, Georgia, Matthew Williams (Tekesha) of Brunswick, Georgia, Timothy McDonald IV (Nakia) of Convington, Georgia, and Eric Brantley (Tierra) of Lilburn, Georgia; four nieces: Pamela Thorpe of Brunswick, Georgia, Seleta O. Rahim (Irin) of Jacksonville, Florida, Niki McDonald of Rex, Georgia, and Ebony McDonald of McDonough, Georgia. Additionally, Mrs. Daniels leaves a host of devoted family and friends who will cherish her memory.
