Mr. Murray E. Miller passed away on Friday, Dec. 26, at Baptist Medical Center, in Jacksonville, Fl. Murray's life journey commenced on Jan. 18, 1946, he was born in Valdosta, Ga. and raised by his grandparents, the late Brady and Rosa Chavis.
Murray received his early education in the Lowndes County Public School System. After graduating
from high school, he earned his bachelor's degree from Albany State University and an educational specialist degree from Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. He made a significant impact as the principal of Risley Middle School for many years, and he capped his career as an instructor at Cambridge College in Augusta. His commitment to the community was unwavering. He actively participated in various organizations, including Fourteen Black Men of Glynn and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He also serviced on his church's administrative
board and honorably served as a Vietnam War Veteran.
Murray was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Tenecia Miller.
He is survived by his dedicated wife, Gwendolyn Miller; their two sons, Champ (Janet) and Caleb Miller; his brother, George Miller; his sister, Antonees Grant; and three granddaughters, Terryn, Kerryn and McKenna Miller.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026, at Grace United Methodist Church, 1705 Albany St., Brunswick, Ga. Mr. Miller's remains will rest for visitation of family and friends on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, from 12 Noon - 4PM at the Brunswick Funeral Home, 2700 Albany Street and on Saturday Jan. 3, 2026, at the church from 9:30AM until the hour of service.
The service has been entrusted to the Brunswick Funeral Home “The House of Dignified Service” Quinton L. Douglas LFD/Mortician.
