Eudocia Tacita Aikens, affectionately known to many as "TC," was born on May 17, 1979, in Germany, to Laura Winder Aikens and Edward Timothy Aikens. On Saturday, December 13, 2025, Tacita peacefully transitioned to her eternal home, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable presence.
As a proud military child, Tacita experienced life in many places, learning early how to adapt and connect with people wherever she went. Eventually, she made Valdosta, Georgia, her home-where her heart truly settled and lifelong relationships were formed.
Tacita graduated from Lowndes High School and Wiregrass Technical College, both in Valdosta. She dedicated over 20 years of faithful service to South Georgia Medical Center, where she was known for her reliability, strong work ethic, and friendly spirit. Her commitment to service reflected her caring nature and deep sense of responsibility.
Above all, Tacita's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was her beloved daughter, Dasia Aikens. Dasia was the center of her world-her heart, her pride, her purpose and her motivation. Everything Tacita did revolved around her daughter, whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally.
Tacita had a gift for conversation and a naturally welcoming spirit she truly never met a stranger. She delighted in good food, especially the meals prepared by her mother and her late father, which brought her comfort and joy. She loved watching movies of all kinds, with a special fondness for classic favorites as well as thrilling scary films. She also had a deep appreciation for old music, often finding comfort and happiness in timeless songs that spoke to her heart. Above all, Tacita cherished time spent with family, especially the moments shared with her daughter, her niece Kylei, and her nephew Daniel "DJ," creating memories filled with laughter, warmth, and love.
A woman of faith, Tacita was baptized at an early age and was a devoted member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. Though her health eventually prevented her from attending in person, she remained faithfully connected, watching services every Sunday via Facebook and continuing her walk with God.
Tacita's life and love will be lovingly remembered and cherished by her daughter, Dasia Aikens, and her mother, Laura Winder Aikens, both of Valdosta, Georgia; her two sisters, Ebron Tynidra Aikens and Elnora Tiara (Daniel) Hunter, both of Valdosta, Georgia; and her beloved niece, Kylei Hunter, and nephew Daniel Hunter Jr. (DJ), all of Valdosta, Georgia. Her grandfather, Claud Freeman, of New Llano, Louisiana, also holds her memory dear.
She leaves cherished memories with her five uncles: Earnest (Lula) Ray of Centreville, Mississippi; Leo Anderson of Kansas City, Missouri; Thomas Winder Jr. and Fred Winder, both of Springfield, Louisiana; and Glenn (Gretchen) Aikens of New Llano, Louisiana.
Her memory is lovingly held by her three aunts: Ella Muse and Dr. Sandra Winder, both of Springfield, Louisiana; and Leshanda Mitchell of Riverdale, Georgia.
She remains in the hearts of a host of cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing her.
Tacita was preceded in death by her father, Edward Timothy Aikens, and both her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Though she has departed this earthly life, Tacita "TC" Aikens leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
