Greg Lamar Shelton, affectionately known by his family and friends as “Big G” or “Jammin’ G,” gained his heavenly wings on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the age of 55.
Greg was born on March 5, 1970, to the late Peggy Vickers. His roots began in Pasadena, California, where he attended Blair High School before completing his education and graduating from Brooks County High School in Quitman, Georgia.
A proud United States Army veteran, Greg honorably served his country before returning to Quitman, Georgia, where he made his home.
Greg had a deep passion for music and loved engaging in thoughtful, philosophical conversations. His energy was magnetic, his laughter infectious, and his heart immeasurably kind. Big G had a special gift for bringing joy to those around him—his humor, warmth, and genuine spirit made everyone feel like family. He loved hard, laughed loud, and cared deeply for others.
He leaves to cherish his memory six loving children: Jessica Shelton, Marcus Shelton, Deshanta Ray, Jasmine Shelton (Van’Trez Adams), Shania Daniels, and Jamaya Shelton; three cherished grandchildren: Justine Wade Jr., Jacquevous Williams, and Harley Dixon; two devoted sisters, Regina Christian and Heather Shelton; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hamp Shelton, and his beloved mother, Peggy Vickers.
Greg’s love, laughter, and light will continue to shine through his children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know and love him.
