Obituary For Jerald "Jake" Marshall, Sr.

The late Mr. Jerald “Jake” Marshall, Sr. was called home on Friday, November 7, 2025, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Jerald was born on March 22, 1963, in Quitman, Georgia, to the late Roosevelt and Eddie Mae Marshall. He was the second of six children and grew up surrounded by faith, family, and community. At an early age, he was baptized at Laurel Street Church of Christ. He attended the Brooks County School System and later relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he worked faithfully as a carpenter specializing in sheetrock installation.

Jerald was known for his vibrant personality and his ability to bring joy wherever he went. He loved dancing, making others laugh, working in the yard, wearing his signature caps and hats, and tackling home improvement projects. His presence filled every room, and his humor and warmth left lasting memories with all who knew him.

Jerald leaves to cherish his loving memory his children: Jerald Marshall, Jr., Jasmine Marshall, and Jena Marshall; and his grandchildren: Julian Marshall, Myahna Marshall, Michaela Marshall McBride, Marty Marshall, Malijah Marshall, Jaziah Marshall, Princeton Foggie, and Zayden Marshall.

He is also survived by his five siblings: Tanita (Byron) Wesson of Dallas, Texas; Michelle Brown of Atlanta, Georgia; Derrick Marshall of Stone Mountain, Georgia; Tina Marshall of Quitman, Georgia; and Walter Marshall of Atlanta, Georgia; along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt and Eddie Mae Marshall.

Jerald shared lifelong bonds with many, including childhood friends Michael Faison, Linsey Mobley, and Kenny G. He also cherished the close cousin-friend relationships he held with Mike Phillips, the late Alfred Blankumsee, Sr., Kim Blankumsee, Leon Thomas, and Jack Blankumsee III.

Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Jerald “Jake” Marshall, Sr. will be held Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 12:00 PM – Shumate Street Church of Christ, Elder Tony D. Herring, Sr., Eulogist. Internment: Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Quitman, Georgia.
