He was married to Rosa Lee Chappel in 1950 and to this union 10 loving children, Gloria Abrams Bryant, Shelby Township, MI, Suie Mae Smith, Orlando, FL, Sylvester Smith, Orlando, FL, John Smith, Jr. (deceased), Larry Smith, Quitman, GA, Willie Smith, Chicago, IL, Frank Smith, Shelby Township, MI, Cleve Smith, Quitman, GA and Jessie Smith, Jasper, FL and Isaac Smith, Monticello, FL. John Lee was blessed with a large and loving family: Brothers & Sisters who preceded him in death, Willie Smith, Moses Smith, Sampson Smith, Leroy Smith, Fletcher Smith, Aubrey Smith, Mary Davis, Bessie Wade John Lee is survived by his children and Sister, Lorine Miles; Sisters-in-Law, Marie Smith, Jewel Smith, Mae Bell Smith, Earline Jackson, Ernestine Perkins, Gladys Cuffeel, Geraldine Murray, Ruby Clinton, Ella Louise Haynes, Marion Minor, Geneva Davis; Brothers-in-law, Matthew, Benny, Willie, Daniel, Eddie Powell, Ernest Powell, Willie Lee Powell (deceased), Joseph Powell, Douglish Chappel (deceased).

The legacy of John Lee Smith continues in his grandchildren Oscar Fuller, Stephanie Jackson and 32 other grandchildren and a host great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Service for Mr. John Lee Smith will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the BTW Funeral Services Chapel. Burial: North End Cemetery, Quitman, Georgia.
