Lottie Mae Wright Cody Date of Passing; January 10, 2022

Mrs. Lottie Mae Cody, lovingly called “Tut” was born on November 13, 1931 to the late Deacon Weadom Wright, Sr. and Deaconess Pearlie Manning Wright in Dixie, Georgia. She departed this life peacefully on January 10, 2022 in El Paso, Texas.

Lottie met and married her beloved Brandon Cody of Quitman, Georgia in 1954. He was a well decorated officer who served 43 years in the United States Military. They enjoyed 52 wonderful years together until he was called home to be with the Lord in 2006.

Lottie was educated in the Brooks County School System. She later furthered her studies and became a highly respected hairstylist to many celebrities.

As a child, Lottie joined Beulah Hill Baptist Church of Dixie, GA where she sung in the choir and taught Sunday School. She later joined Shiloh Baptist Church of El Paso, Texas. As a woman of God, she centered her life around serving and singing for the Lord. She was summoned to sing for many important events such as; The Baptist Convention, The Democratic Convention and many other events throughout her life. Her signature song was The Lord’s Prayer.

Lottie loved to come back home to Dry Lake Road in Dixie, Georgia to enjoy spending time with her parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and community. She always made her delicious peanut brittle and good fried fish which was loved by so many. Lottie was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings, Bubba, Jimmie, Pedro, Perling, Willie Gerald, and Aristine.

She will be greatly missed. She leaves to carry on her memory. Two Sisters, Lucy M. Heath of Ormond Beach, Florida and Patricia Jenkins (Anthony) of Monticello, FL; Three Brothers, George Wright (Joyce) of Miami, FL, James Wilbur Wright (Jacquelyn) of Decatur, GA, Donny Wright of Atlanta, GA; Four Sisters-In-Law, Mattie Wright of Pennsylvania, Gladys Wright of Stone Mountain, GA, Madleen Spencer of Miami Garden, FL, and Ethel Cody of Quitman, GA; Two Brothers-in-Law: James Maverick of Oak Hill, FL and Moses Cody of Pompano Beach, FL; Three lifelong friends, Juliet Hart, Lottie Spears, and Ruth Hoyt all of El Paso, Texas; Longtime former Pastor, Reverend Brown and Present Pastor Reverend Christopher White both of Shiloh Baptist Church, El Paso, Texas, host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Graveside Service for Mrs. Lottie Mae Wright Cody will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 12:00 Noon – Beulah Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Quitman, Georgia.
