Sister Ruth Manning Lambert was born on May 10, 1938, in Brooks County, Georgia, to the late Lillie Mae Manning Gosier and Charlie Daniels, Sr. A woman of deep faith, unwavering love, and compassionate service, she entered eternal rest on July 4, 2025, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family.
In December 1982, Sister Lambert was baptized into Christ at Laurel Street Church of Christ and later became a devoted and cherished member of the Shumate Street Church of Christ, where she faithfully served for over 40 years. Her dedication to the congregation was unmatched—she loved Shumate and its members with every fiber of her being. She served with joy as a member of the singing group and played an instrumental role on the Kitchen Committee until her health no longer permitted.
Sister Lambert was educated in the Brooks County School System. After completing her studies, she worked in various manufacturing jobs before discovering her true calling—cooking. She served many years as one of the head cooks at the McIntosh Retirement Home in Quitman, where her meals nourished both body and soul. Her passion for feeding others extended far beyond the workplace; she frequently prepared meals for those in her neighborhood, always saying, “I may not have money to give you, but I can at least feed you.”
Outside of her service to God and community, Sister Lambert was a devoted sports enthusiast and a proud supporter of Brooks County athletics. She could easily be recognized as the #1 fan of the Brooks County Trojans, traveling all across Georgia—rain, sleet, or shine—to cheer on her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all Trojan athletes.
She was preceded in death by her beloved children, Phyllis Lambert Butts (Gary), Allery Lambert, and Kenneth Scott, as well as her siblings Carson Gosier, Leonard Frederick, Virgil Manning (Martha), Leroy Manning, Charlie Daniels, Jr., Ulysses Daniels, Ben Daniels and Cecil Daniels.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted children: Sharon Golden, Francis Lambert, Charlotte Alexander (Preston), Donnell Lambert, Timothy Lambert, and Adrian Lambert; her siblings: Delores Turner, Charles A. Gosier, Jr. (Mattie), Edith Gosier, Debra Gosier, Priscilla Howard, Lamar Daniels, Ricky Daniels, Julius Daniels, Patricia Bryant (Sonny), Barbara Lane (Kent) and Slyvia Daniels; and a special daughter, Stephanie Travis. She also leaves behind a loving legacy through a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a cherished church family at Shumate Street Church of Christ with whom she built strong and lasting bonds.
Her life was a testament to faith, service, and unconditional love. Sister Ruth Manning Lambert will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Celebration of Life Service for Sister Ruth Manning Lambert will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Shumate Street Church of Christ, Elder Tony D. Herring, Sr. Minister/Eulogist. Internment: North End Cemetery
