Willie J. Register Jr.
Sunrise: May 2, 1949, Dixie GA - Sunset: May 1, 2025, Decatur, Georgia
Willie J. Register Jr., also known as Gene, the beloved eldest of seven siblings, was a steady presence and quiet leader throughout his life. Born on May 2, 1949, in Dixie, GA, he graduated from Washington Street High School in 1967 as valedictorian and continued his academic journey at Morehouse College and Northwestern University.
Gene built a remarkable career across both corporate and entrepreneurial spaces. He held impactful roles with Chrysler Motors, Southern Bell, AT&T, KPMG, and later owned a check cashing business in the Metro Atlanta area. Through each chapter, he demonstrated dignity, focus, and adaptability—especially during seasons of significant change.
Though reserved, his presence was felt deeply by those who knew him. He was a devoted father to his two sons, Tito (Terri) Register and Anthony (Malikah) Register, Husband, Rose C. Register (Gilchrist), Kathy Register (Holt) and a proud grandfather to Tyrin and Tiyana.
Music filled his home and spirit, and his gift for gardening brought beauty and calm to the world around him. Whether tending to family or his garden, he nurtured life with intention.
Gene is survived by his sons and grandchildren, as well as his loving siblings: Oliver, Sarah, Alice, Catherine, Michael (Wanda), and Marie. He was also a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Gene has found eternal peace alongside his father, Willie J. Register Sr, mother, Callie Register (Brinson) and first wife Rose C. Register (Gilchrist). His impact lives on through all who knew and loved him.
“And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” – Psalm 1:3
Forever rooted in love, growth, and quiet strength—Willie J. Register Jr’s legacy lives on.
