Marjorie Satisfield Beaton

Last night a friend informed me of the passing of our former teacher, Mrs. Beaton. Mrs. Beaton taught us at Westfield #1 School (jr. high classes). The school was in the Westfield, Alabama, community and was in the Westfield schools trilogy: Westfield #1, Westfield #2 (elementary) and "Dear Ol' " Westfield High. All are now defunct - from a time when our enriching, loving, caring world was all Black, including our segregated schools. Mrs. Beaton, like so many of our past superb Black teachers, taught us so much more than the required curriculum. They also taught us, and showed us by example, who we were - and who or what we could aspire to be. I look forward to seeing her again! Lovingly submitted, Barbara Graves Theodore, WHS class of 1966
