Receiving Bountiful Blessings, Alexander Bostic Sr. and Ruby Nell Mckenney proudly welcomed Dorothy Bostic-Mckenney on September 17, 1939. Orphaned at the age of 5 years, Dorothy was nurtured and raised by her Grandparents, Will and Mary Mitchell. Dorothy, affectionally called “Sugar Mama”, was a precocious child, quickly learning the skills of cooking, baking, and sewing from her grandmother. Dorothy was compassionate yet stern with an infectious laugh that warmed the hearts of her family. Her Love extended far beyond imagination. She absolutely loved her Church and New Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church Family where she served faithfully on the Church Usher Board until her health failed. Forever cherishing the Love, and fundamental core values of honesty, integrity, uprightness, and a belief in God are: Sons, Marvin (Dorothea) Coley of Clinton Maryland, Ronald (Jamee) Atkins of Pahokee FL, Victor (Deborah) Atkins of Miami FL. (Willie and Tony Atkins precedes her in death); Daughters: Patricia Atkins of Pahokee FL. and Connie and (Milton) Collins of Palm Coast FL. Dorothy’s work was not complete. Her Love and commitment to family extended beyond her children, raising 3 generations which includes Grandchildren Tabatha L. Atkins, Tavarus L. Atkins (Deceased) and Tarvis L. Atkins, Great Grandchildren: Cortavious Hannah, Malik Hall- Brown, and Amari Spirvey. Dorothy also leaves her Brother and Sister in Law whom she adored, Reverend Alexander Bostic Jr. and Lady Alice Bostic of Stockbridge Georgia. (Sisters Mildred and Pearl Bostic precedes her in death). Love and Laughter was also showered on Grandchildren, Marvin Coley Jr., Brooke Coley, Blair Coley, Bryce Coley, Natosha Reed, Warren Veney II, Tamia Small-Bennett, Roneria Hopson, Sade Atkins, Ronald Atkins Jr., Janay McDuffy, Ronnesha Atkins, Rontavious Atkins, Ronshanae Atkins, Kimani Newkirk, Shawyne Britton, Therian Atkins, Robert Love Jr., ALkwazi Spencer. 26 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Granddaughter, her little “Sugar Mama” Ma’Liyah Hall. Cousin John Henry and Patsy Johnson. Dorothy shared an especially close relationship with Granddaughter Ra’Shonda Love who help cared for her when her health failed. Saying just 3 days prior to gaining her wings, “Shonda you mean the world to me” Extended Family and Friends: Denise Trebbles, Carolyn Dawson, Faye Reynolds, Mary Burden, Sandra Dawson, Sheldon Clarke, Alexander Bostic III, Jonathan Bostic, Myrtice and Michael Carrigan, Sharolyn Atkins, Inger and Othneil Harvey, Demetrius and Rene Brown, Ina Brooks, James Brooks, Tisa Atkins, James Atkins, Gloria Atkins, Daisy Atkins, Melvin Esper, Keshane Bostic, Breyona Elijah, Barbara Jean Chambers, Lou Dora King, Lavone Campbell (Deceased) Bernice Bell, Sanquetta Cowan-Williams, Margaret Strachan, Julia Hale, Lawondra Smith, and Viola Jones.
